I'm trying to get the alternator off of a 92 saturn and I can't get the belt to loosen to get it off the whole way. I know there is a a tensioner pulley somewhere but I really have no clue what to look for.

Look at the belt itself and you will see where the belt has like a metal spring loaded part on it holding the belt on and that is the tensioner and you either pull up or pull down on the tensioner to loosen the belt

What steps should I follow when removing the alternator from my 92 Suzuki sidekick?

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Loosen adjusting bracket nut or bolt and the bottom bolt, then loosen the long adjusting bolt while pushing down on the alternator. Remove the belt.
Unplug wire from top of alternator.
Unbolt the wire from the rear of alternator. Completely remove upper and lower bolt from the alternator. Pry the alt away from the brackets. You may have to use a hammer to tap the spacer back in its hole about 1/4 inch. This is located in the hole where the large bolt went through. Reverse procedure to install.

I'm trying to change the belts for my 92 tercel but some how cant find the tension pulley. Can anyone please help me. I need to change both belts.

It appears that your car is equipped with multiple v-belts, rather than a serpentine belt so there most likely aren't tensioner pullies. Here is some general info that may help.

Alternator To adjust the tension of the alternator drive belt on older models, loosen the pivot and mounting bolts on the alternator. Using a wooden hammer handle, or a broomstick as a prying device, move the alternator one way or the other until the proper tension is achieved. Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal device such as a pry bar, as a lever. Newer models use a tension adjusting bolt. Loosen the pivot bolt and the locking bolt, then turn the tension adjusting bolt until proper tension is achieved. Tighten the bolts securely, run the engine about minute, stop the engine then recheck the belt tension. Air Conditioning Compressor A/C compressor (always use caution when working near the A/C compressor to avoid damaging the refrigerant lines) belt tension can be adjusted by turning the tension adjusting bolt which is located on the compressor tensioner bracket. Turn the bolt clockwise to tighten the belt and counterclockwise to loosen it. Air Pump To adjust the tension of the air pump drive belt, loosen the adjusting lever bolt and the pivot bolt. Move the pump in or out until the desired tension is reached. NOTE: The tension should be checked between the air pump and the crankshaft pulley on cars without air conditioning. On cars with A/C the tension should be checked between the compressor and the crankshaft pulley. Power Steering Pump Tension on the power steering belt is adjusted by means of an idler pulley (some models may use just a lower adjusting bracket setup, similar to the alternator adjustment service procedure). Loosen the lock bolt and turn the adjusting bolt on the idler pulley until the desired tension is felt, then tighten the lock bolt.

I have a 92 honda accord LX. How do i remove and replace the alternator?

Unplug the battery
Loosen and move the power steering pump out of the way (don't disconnect the hoses to it)
Loosed the bolts on the alternator (should be a 14mm on the top bolt, then there will be another lower (hard to reach 12mm bolt) where it pivots. Then, on the lower front of the alternator, there will be two 10mm bolts visible for the alternator belt tension bracket, loosen the RIGHT one as that will release the tension on the belt. You may need to bang or pry to get the alternator to swing out even if you have all the bolts out. They like to lock in there.

Chevy s-10 2000. trying to replace drive belt and alternator. how do you loosen the belt. I've located the tensioner but don't know how to loosen the belt. thanks

the tensioner has a square whole in it so that you can install a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar to apply the tension necessary to loosen it, you can use a ratchet but you will to use a cheater pipe to have enough pressure to move it.

We need to replace an alternator belt on a 2001 saturn sl2 series

YOU MEAN THE CERPENTINE BELT?? IT ONLY HAS ONE I BELIEVE. BELOW THE TOP FRONT ENGINE MOUNT THERES A BELT TENSIONER PUT A WRENCH ON THE CENTER BOLT AND TURN IT TO LOOSEN THE BELT, (INSTALATION) TURN THE TENSIONER TO PUT THE BELT BACK ON. AND IF YOU FORGOT THE WAY THE BELT GOES BACK ON, CHECK THE DECAL BY THE RADIATOR AND YOULL SEE THE PICTURE HOW IT GOES.

How do I remove the belt on my Saturn SW2 (1996) Is there a bolt somewhere that I loosen? Help please. I can't afford to pay to have it done.

If you don't see an adjustment or tension pulley look at the alternator bracket and see if there is an adjustment bolt on it. If it is just a sliding bracket loosen the bolt on the bracket and slide the alternator in loosening the belt till it comes off.

loosen tensioners using a pry bar or equivalant and loosen tensioners on ac and alternator then tighten when replaceing. work on outside belt off fist and then inside belt off second. then install inside belt first and then outside belt. you will see a grooved hole where the bolt goes through the alternator to reduce tension.
