Question about 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Open Question

REF: Code P0303

My vehicle has registered code P0303. It idles rough and occasionally misses while driving. What are some things I could check? My pt cruiser 2001 will shake for a bit when in idle. I just had the spark plugs and wires replaced, after the mechanic diagnosed it with a P0303,misfire in the 3rd cylinder, and it ran well for a week.
Now it is misfiring again, imparticularly when I start the car and it is in idle'lll shke a bit then eventually stop and run fine.

Any ideas?

It might have run fine for a week because it had a new nonfouled spark plug in the bad cylinder. Once the plug fouled, it started missing again. I would check the spark plug for that cylinder and see if it is fouled again. If it is, then check the injector for that cylinder as well and see if it is leaking. A leaky injector will run rich at idle and cause the cylinder to occasionally miss.

Use the correct champion plugs for starters, make sure the wire is firing. If the wire is firing, the coil pack is good. You will need to check compression and fuel delivery after that.

SOURCE: get multiple misfire codes. P0300 - P0303. If this

This could be a coil problem but i would start by changeing the plug wires and checking each plug.

Pt cruiser missfiring

Were you having this problem before they worked on it? If not, that's odd?
Check for applicable trouble codes. If a single cylinder miss-fire, the codes should tell which cylinder, then you check spark--fuel--compression on that cylinder.
Do you notice the problem at idle or going down the road? The basics for a rough idle is to check for a leak of some kind, fuel--egr--vacuum leak.

Why is 2009 pt cruiser missing while A/C is on & idling? Car is not picking up any codes. Just started about 2 weeks ago; the fan is not coming on automatically while A/C is on; comes on & off. ...

If it was missing it would set a code, trust me on this fact. More than likely the engine is idling rough with the additional load of the AC compressor. This can be caused by many thiongs and you will need a trained expert to figure what is wrong. Many times the issue is hard (from heat) engine mounts.

2001 v6 escape rough idle when cold

To update my earlier repair on the 2001 6 cyl Escape: When cold, and when the ignition was turned over but no accelerator pressure given, the rough idle finally returned the P0303 code again when the check engine light came on indicating that it wasn't caused by the plugs or the coil. FYI, I had replaced the intake manifold gaskets during the original repair and just prior to that I had replaced the fuel filter which was very dirty (I cut it open to see).

The repair manual referred to fuel injectors as a possible problem. I have run three tanks of fuel using different injector cleaning products and am very pleased with the results. Cold starts are much smoother and I am unable to coax out the P0303 code or any other code.

My opinion, change the fuel filter, use a fuel injector cleaner for a couple of tanks, change the plugs if the problem still exists. The coils were not the problem on my vehicle.

Car overheats then engine dies going down hill coasting. When try to start, starter spins as if no gas or fire to the plugs. Can this be a sensor flipped by too much heat or lack of coolant ? If so, how do you reset the sensor ?
