Question about 2000 Subaru Impreza

Spark plug required repair by helo-coil

One of the spark plugs was apparently put in wrong before i bought the car (used). the plug was STRIPPED!! I had to have a mechanic use a helo-coil to get it to work, vs having a whole new head put on. Any idea how anyone could actually strip a 2000 subaru impreza (or any car) sparkplug? Should I think about selling before the helo-coil fails, or do you think it's okay?

I blew a spark plug it stripped out it's a F-250 V-10 1999

Your local part store should carry a thread repair kit as it it quite common. Make sure you protect from getting metal shavings inside of the cylinder.

How can I test my ignition coil pack on a 2002 Mercedes benz c240

put a spark plug in each socket you want to test and run a ground wire from the spark plug to the engine ground. then try starting the car to see it they spark. when I tested my 4 cylinder coil pack they were all together. I had 4 plugs sticking out and used an old stripped wire and wrapped around each base of the spark plug in series and then tied it to a ground point. worked great

You can buy an insert kit and rethread the stripped head. Just be careful and get some pro help and advice when doing it . It's really not that difficult.

How do I remove a stripped spark plug from my 98 aurora

when you put the plug socket on it it just spins, if so you have to turn it out and pry it at the same time if you can , this is the only way , why did it strip out , were you turning it the wrong way ? rightie tightie lefty lucy , right, , but his is what you have to do , most plugs are 5/8 today , but make sure could be 13/16 , pry and turn easy , then you have to clean it out real good and heli coil it ,good luck

Spark plug tube striped spark plug jumped out of tube

The issue seems to be related to the spark plug threads. The spark plug is either not tightened down or the threads are stripped, and during the compression stroke when pressure is applied inside the combustion chamber, the pressure leaks thru the spark plug threads and blows off the spark plug boot. If the spark plug is not tightened and the threads are ok, then tightening the plug will resolve this issue. If the spark plug threads are damaged, then the threads will need to be repaired, and will require the cylinder head to be removed to repair the stripped threads. Taking the cylinder head off requires the engine's top end to be ripped apart and re-assembled....big job.

I changed my front 3 spark plugs and a broken wire now and i have very bad rough idle and i could hear clicks? whats going on? should I put the old ones back on? the new ones were bought from...

The spark plugs should be matched up with the old ones to be sure that are the same as the new spark plugs and that the threads are not too long or too short and if the spark plugs were pre-gapped or if they need to be gapped, and the auto part store should have given you that information along with any spark plug gap because some spark plugs you can not set the gap on or they will be damaged. The spark plug gap should also be printed on the emission label out under the hood. Also, the other three spark plugs and wires should be changed to complete the ignition tune-up.

The spark plug gap should be the same amount between all of the spark plugs, and the farther apart that the gap is between the spark plugs the rougher the engine will run and idle, and the closer that you get to the same spark plug gap between the spark plugs the smoother the engine will run and idle.

It is also very important that the spark plugs be connected to the correct terminals on the coil pack or the engine will have a severe mis-fire and it will set a mis-fire DTC (Data Trouble Code) and cause the check engine light to come on.

Here is a firing order diagram to help assist you and let me know if need help with this diagram or if you require any further assistance.

Yes, go to auto parts, and tell them you need a spark plug hole repair kit, very easy to install, just follow the directions.

I had a sparkplug blow out and was still connected to the cable so i went and bought 4 new ones but when i went to put the new plug in i cant get it snug its not screwing in and holding to my engin block...

It stripped the threads when it blew out, the head/block has to be machined to be able to put a plug back in. Take it to a machine shop mechanic.
