Hello, It sounds as if you are having ignition switch problems on your Impala. The tow truck driver is correct, Gm has had a problem with keys but that is because the theft deterent system is looking for a particular shaped key(original-new shaped) key and if your key is worn then you can go to the dealer with your title or bill of sale, or etc, and get new keys made. In the mean time, If it do this again turn the switch off, turn it back to start, and then leave on for ten minutes. This will relearn the key but when you get the new key you wil have to do this again with the relearn.

2003 chevy impala starts anti theft comes onput in gear dies wont do nothing

My impala did same thing and then would not start. I suspected anti theft problem I then had chevy dealer change ignition switch. It fixed problem second time I wasn't going to pay $ 750 for so I bought $40 dollar switch on ebay. It was an easy job following great video on you tube. When I went to start car it would not go. While doing relearn procedure (hook up battery charger before starting procedure) I got very tired of door chime so I found it was coming from left front door speaker. I removed wire to stop chime. When i went back to relearn procedure car started right up. I have a steady security light on but car has run fine for months. If you cruise and heater fan has also stopped working add wire from switched terminal on ignition switch to power feed wire on heater. It fixed both problems on mine.

How can I bypass the security code

Why do think the key security is bad? If you still have a factory key, this is not the problem...if no factory key, you can take your VIN number or original key to GM dealer to get new key that they will program for you...Check for dirty battery connections:)

2004 Chevy impala won't start sometimes

Is the "Security" light coming on?. If so, there is a problem with the Passlock key antitheft system. It is common for the ignition cylinder key detection contacts to go bad.

Replacing the key cylinder fixes the problem. The new cylinder has to be "relearned". See the internet and search for "2004 Chevrolet passlock system relearn procedure".

I have 2004 chevy impala And the ignition switch no return when you stared, And the back lights doesnt work when you press the brake pedal And turn on direcctional any side

It has a defective ignition switch spring. Replace or repair. Either that or the starter interlock on top of and visible on the transmission/engine intersection is bad. Google "picture image" of "2004 Chevrolet Impala Starter Switch" to find location, remove and replace one or the other.

Sounds like a major electrical issue. I would have it towed to the nearest Chevy dealer for diagnosis and repair.

For the last five years that I have owned my 2004 Chevy Impala I have had problems with it not wanting to start at certain times, usually and mostly during the summer months, but not all the time. I get...

I had the same thing happen to my impala. It was the sensor in the ignition switch for security purposes. I had too many keys on my key ring, and it caused the ignition switch to not read my key right. Once I had the ignition switch repaired, I don't put so many keys on my key ring. It cost me about $300.

Someone may have tried to steal the car and damaged the lock's internal pins. Replace the entire lock with new.
