Question about 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

My 2002 Nissa Pathfinder with only 54,000 miles, transmission went out. Is this common for such low milege on a Nissan. Has any one else had this happen to them?

What are the symptoms? condition of the fluid? It could be somthing electirical. Or it could be the tourqe converter splines stripped.(common issue) if that is the case all you have to do is replace the tourqe converter not the trans. still a big job but not as expensive. there are ways of diagnosing the problem without pulling the trans.

2002 Nissan Pathfinder tries to go into 4wd while driving

Because of the way you have described your problem, please act according to these instructions:
Please drive your Pathfinder at NO more that 10 miles per hour to a Nissan dealer, or please have it towed there.
Speeds greater than that, any such transmission malfunction can cause the vehicle to loose control and spin around or become unsteerable.

How many miles on it? I had to replace my engine at 220,000. When is the last time you had a tune up? Could be a couple of things. You might get more ideas on a Nissan forum.

Hi Diamond, These vehicles do sometimes have a problem in disengaging the 4 X 4. Start up and drive it backwards and forwards slowly (3 or 4 miles per hour will do). Gently put pressure on the lever in the direction of the 2 high and after some time it will change. (If nothing has been damaged inside the box, which is unlikely) Regards John

Loose power at speeds 45 to 60 and vehicle shacks.

There appears to be a common problem where the radiator coolant is leaking into the transmission. I have this problem on my 2005 Pathfinder as well. I'm going to the dealer this week. 74k miles.

youre going to need to get a volt meter and have someone hold the key in the start posistion while someone else goes under the vehicle and test to see if there is voltage at the starters smaller wire. if there is, replace the starter.

Check the brake system such as the break paqds, calipers or rotor. Check that nothing is loose. Also check that the steering is well lubed.

Speedo not working on nissan pathfinder

check the speed sensor either at the transmission or on the front wheel axle. You have to remove the front wheel , rotor until you get down to the shaft. The speed sensor is right there on the passenger side of your car.
