How can I change my 3.0 Liter oil pan gasket

Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

I actually own a 1995 Dodge Spirit 3.0 and its not to difficult. The hardest part is removing the bracket on the transmission so you can remove the dust cover for the flywheel. (1) Drain the oil. (2) Remove the transmission bracket and the dust cover. (3) Remover all the pan bolts except one, just loosen this one so you can pry the pan off, because the pan will be stuck on. (4) Clean the engine block and the oil pan very clean. (5) Install the gasket OR sealer which ever it calls for and install the pan and fill with new oil and filter. Hope this helps and please visit my Auto-Repair-Website: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

While changing the transmission pan gasket and filter i noticed a piece of plastic in the pan. it is about 2 inches long and looks like a mushroom with an o-ring on the head of it. i cant figure out where...

Hi, welcome to FixYa.com my name is Shawn and I will be answering your question.

That yellow plug is from the factory. They use that to plug the dipstick tube hole before they install the dipstick tube to keep the fluid from running out. Just throw out the yellow plastic piece. When they install the dipstick tube it pushes the piece into the trans pan where it stays until you change the fluid and throw it out.

I hope my assistance helped you and resolved your concern, if you need further assistance please ask.

Leaking oil

Your car has several different types of oils or fluids (motor oil, transmission oil, power steering fluid/oil, brake fluid, and differential oil - if applicable). . Before you can determine how to fix your problem, you need to determine exactly what you problem is, meaning you need to figure out what fluid is leaking.

Good Luck!

How much will it cost for a mechanic to change oil pan gasket on my 1998 chevy blazer 4wd big v6 engine?

Gasket = $35 (permatex rubber)
Labor - my manual says 3 hours.
You'll have to be responsible for figuring out the labor price per hour depending on where you are located.
In MI, a garage is about $50/hr, and dealership = $85/hr
CA might be $95/$150/hr.

Parts are minimal on the job - its all labor.
Figure in about $20 for shop supplies... gasket remover, sealant, rags, etc.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Newer oil pan gaskets for Ford, not like original..leaking again

try warming up the engine a little then re-tightening the bolts,if that doesnt work, mark where its leaking and pull the pan back off and apply sealant to that area a little heavier than the rest of the gasket surface, dont use too much on a new gasket, just a really thin coat...USE "ULTRA BLUE" sealant,NOT blue or black RTV silicone, silicone wears out and it can leak after a while..Allow the ultra blue sealant to dry for about 30 minutes before re-assembling it,and clean off all oil from the gasket before applying the sealant, its ok to apply it to both sides of the gasket, and add a glob to all 4 corners where the gasket meets with rubber seals around the crankshaft, but put those globs on right before you put the pan back in place, the sealant has to be wet to squish in enough..i hope this helps

2004 Chevy Cavalier Oil leak

Replacing an oil pan gasket on a car shouldn't be too difficult for you, say, about an hour or two. As long as you follow some simple guidelines, the leak should be eliminated. Improper tightening or seating of the gasket material can defeat the purpose of your work. Grab a Haynes manual, or a tech guide for your vehicle, and have it handy.

I would suggest tracking the oil leak to ensure that it's not your front seal on your crankshaft. The amount of oil that you describe sounds like a bit much for an undisturbed oil pan gasket.

How do you replace turn signal bulb on 2001 Izuzu Trooper?

NOT SURE IF IT IS TRUE ON THIS KIND OF VEHICLE, BUT USUALLY WHEN CHANGING A BULB YOU NEED TO GO UNDER THE HOOD ON WHATEVER SIDE YOU ARE CHANGING...AND THERE WILL BE A KIND OF PLUG INTO THE BACK OF THE ACTUAL LIGHT FIXTURE, IF YOU GIVE IT LIKE A QUARTER TURN IT WILL PULL OUT YOU THEN CHANGE THE BULB AND PROCEED WITH PLUGGING BACK IN. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP!
