Sounds as if the front struts are loose and need tightening, although i know the struts are no good, i also know that is not a good noise to be hearing............. any ideas besides replacing the struts

Check sway bar. On some models as suspension sags, sway bar outer ends will contact the body, leaving a mark or dent just above the end, causing a bang over bumps. Only way to correct this is to change springs or add a spring lift.

have the rear sway bar bushings been replaced if not try that it should fix problem

put them in the freezer to cool them down worked for me leave them in for about an hour :)

Hi.on each end of the gas strut it has steel clips which you have to remove with a flat screw driver and then pull the strut off, then just push the new ones on

A "normal" coil spring compressor won't usually work on struts. A strut compressor works from both ends of the assembly. You can remove the entire strut and spring without removing the spring, then you place it into the compressor, increase tension just a bit and remove the top bearing and mount plate , relieve the tension, remove the strut and reverse the procedure to re-assemble it.
