Question about 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Low-beam headlights will not work!

HELP PLZ!! My step-dad and I have tried everything! We've already replaced the fuse, both sockets, both bulbs, the restrictor, and the entire switch/lever mechanism in the column.. So we thought it was a wire problem.. But when we checked EACH wire individually at EACH socket on both sides with the voltage meter, they all appeared to be fine.. None of the wires showed any signs of a short either.. We're stumped.. Help?? plz??

WE FIXED IT!! It turned out to be a corroded fusable link connecting the wires for the dims.. Also when I said restrictor I actully meant the DRL relay (Daytime Running Lights).. I have no clue why I said restrictor.. And THANKS to michigan man (which I am also) for the phone number - I will definitely keep it for future reference.

I have a 2007 Chrysler sebring and drivers low beams will not work.

try the fuses or wire fuse links , the only other thing in the circuit is the wires broken or the light low switch is bad

I have no low beam headlights. already checked bulbs, fuses, relay and dimmer switch. can you help?

Before you replace the #46 HDM relay (in the fuse block under the hood) try exchanging it with the #45 cooling fan relay and see if your low beam lights work. If they do, the HDM relay (actually solid state module, not a relay) is bad.

No power to right side (PS) headlight low beam plug socket, new bulb, fuse is good. High beam works, blinker works, park light works. just no low beam and doesn't register any voltage on volt meter.

check low beam fuse when switched on if it has voltage registering across the fuse ,if there is voltage across the low beam RHS fuse then it is possibly a pinched wire from the headlight running back towards inside of the car

2001 grand caravan low beam light not working. i chang bulb already i check fuse already.

Hi Every single time I have had a failure of low beam in a headlight without failure of high beam, it has been because the lamp bulb or halogen lamp module has reached the end of its serviceable life, not because of any wiring problems. Low beam burns out first because it is on the most. If low beam is lost simultaneously in both headlights, I would check fuse first, then the headlight switch. If low beam is lost on one side only, it is almost always going to be due to the bulb or lamp module needing to be replaced. In that case, replace them in both headlights because the other one will be going kaput in short order, as well. Also if you already replaced the fuse and bulb check the headlight dimmer control switch.
Thanks for using Fixya.
