it is inside the transmission THERE ARE 5 4WD SHIFT ON THE FLY. THEY ARE PART OF TRANNY VALVE BODY,VB SO THE QUESTION REALLY IS HOW TO REACH VB (DEEP INSIDE) just read the manual OR ASK HONDA , AMAZING NO, THEY SELL PART
Not familar with your exact transmission, but most have more than one shift solenoid. These are usually easy to access once trans bottom pan is removed.
The RPM of the engine goes up between shifts or more than the road speed when in a gear. If the engine RPM is increasing but the road speed is not, the transmission may be slipping.
need to let a transmission shop code scan transmission for a transmission shift solenoid fault code or a mechanical problem.transmission has to be diagnostic scan because you have many solenoids if you have solenoid problem scanner will give you a code see no code could have transmission mechanical problems.
Only recently has my 97 Honda Passport been acting like the transmission slips...I'll be in Drive and the revs jump from 2 to 5 or 6; I'll drop it to 3, and it settles down. Last week, I was in Drive, then went to 3...then back to Drive and it jumped...and the Check Trans light came on.
2000 Honda Passport v6 auto transmission..at time transmission did not down shift when stoping and it would stay on low grear. when going after stop it would be on low grear but pick up speed to go 45 mi. pmh but would not down shift when stoped. until maybe 3 miles and it would down shift at stop or when driving at slow speed?
Problem turned out to be blown fuse, But not the one associated with trans!
I just went through all fuses with a multimeter until I came across a blown fuse. What made the problem worse, It was twenty degrees out!
