Sounds like a vacume leak from power break booster, when you loose vacume it will stall out the engine if enought vacume is lost. chk. power break booster. and hose from engine leading to booster for vacume leak, booster is under hood, break master cyl. bolts to it.

When I press the break and then release there is an air leak sound. What is the cause?

The brake servo or booster is divided into two chambers separated by a flexible diaphragm. Briefly there is vacuum on one side and pressing the brake pedal allows air to enter the other side and this is how the brake pedal effort is boosted.

The air enters via a filter through which the pushrod connected to the brake pedal passes. When the brake is applied the hiss of air entering the chamber will be audible; more on some models than others.
When the forces are balanced; when the brake is sufficiently applied no more air will be required and the hiss will cease. When the brakes are at rest; not applied there should be no hissing.

If there is it indicates a problem with the brake booster, perhaps dirt in the valve gear. Although repairs are possible they aren't very practical to carry out. A repair shop would probably charge more for fitting an overhaul kit than for replacing the unit.

2000 Chevy K3500 No Breaks. Bled breaks, not losing fluid, ABS and break lights on. Hydraulic booster system. makes hissing sound when breaks applied???

I think I would get the body computer scanned for trouble codes and find out why the ABS warning light is on first.
The hissing noise usually means the booster is leaking vac but if the booster was faulty the brake pedal would be hard to push.

2001 ford escape makes a hissing and high pitched squealing sound when the brake pedal is released?

You need to have the brakes inspected. This noise is the brake pad wear warning tab hitting the brake rotor.;

Why would my brakes hiss when I step on them and cause the engine to rev up when I do this? It also makes the vehicle very hard to stop.

It sounds like your brake booster is leaking. The air hissing is the air going into the leak. This extra air goes into the engine and causes the engine to rev up. The booster is what makes it easy to push the brake, (when it is working correctly) which is why the pedal is hard to push.

My brake pedal hisses when i apply perssure on the pedal

if it is squishy when you press it you may have air in the lines and you need to bleed them out.

Replaced rear brake pads, now there is a hissing sound coming from brake pedal when i start it , come to complete stop and after i turn car off .what is the hissing or air pressure release sound coming...

There are 2 things that can use vacuum near the brake pedal. If you have cruise control, there is a safety switch on the pedal to shut off the curise when you apply the brake. This switch may be leaking.
The other part is the brake booster, which is actually in the engine compartment but bolts to the firewall, and your brake pedal mechanism pushes into the booster. You will need to get your head under the dash with the engine running and press on the pedal to locate the leak--on the switch or on the wall.

Power Brake Booster is bad and will need to be replaced. The diaphram leaks when you push on the pedal which robs the engine of vacuum and causes it to stall and the brakes are hard because with a bad booster you get no power assist.
