Is this the push button one or the stick? If it is the electric then You need to start testing all your electrical compnents under the trans to make sure that it is getting proper volts. If it is the manual one then you should start by checking your driveline and make sure that the yoke has hardly any play and that it looks good. Then go to make sure that you are not leaking from any of the seals. Then remove the rubber cover up in the cab and make sure that all linkage is together both internal in the vehicle and in the undercarraage.

I cant get the leaver to engage from 2 whhel drive

hi,

try leaving the main gearshift in neutral and shut the car off , then try and move the lever to four wheel drive. or maybe try to switch it while slowly backing up. most likely since its hardly ever used it just might be stuck from non use. if neither of those ideas fix it. call the dodge dealership and ask to talk to a mechanic in the service department, they might be able to help, call them first before you take it in$$$..

Trouble shifting into 4 wheel drive

The lever is hooked up to a cable system that hooks into each type of drive. It could be that the wire hook end is missing the notch to engage in 4x4 and passes it instead. You can get easy access to it directly underneath the shifter under the jeep.
