Question about 1991 Peugeot 405
Second gear cannot be selected
Sounds like a second gear syncro problem. Probably fork selector on syncro is dodgy, could need replacing. If you can do it yourself Take box off and strip it down, buy part and replace worn parts.

You will need to check the gear linkage hasits free movement and the gearbox mounting is secure. This happen on a Polo recently and the securing bolt to the gearbox mounting had fallen off leaving the gearbox hanging. I hope this helps you.

it is going in limp mode,
if your speedometer is not working will cause this,that would be a speed sensor,or the other two reasons would be the input or output sensors on the tranny
