It could possibly be "detonation" knock .. try using some premium (high) octane fuel and possibly an octane additive for a tank or two ..

it sounds to me like you have inferior gas in the tank, or some water has gotten in your fuel. you may be able to add a little denatured alcohol to the gas and it may burn off the water. good luck

What is a knock sensor in my 2006 jeep commander with the hemi?

the knock sensor is a sensor that detects any abnormal engine knocking/ pinging, (pre-detonation) caused by low octane fuel or lean air/fuel mixtures. When it detects a pre-detonation knock it sends this information to the PCM and the PCM will normally ****** the ignition timing to prevent damage to the engine. However if it is detecting a knock from say bad bearings it can ****** the timing all it wants and it will not help anything. At this point you have a mechanical failure.

Check your Racket Pinion, and gearbox. Make sure there is no moisture around it. Seems like you either have a leak in your suspension, or improper pressure somewhere inbetween your stearing box, and your front end.
