If ur still interested, i had a similar problem. under the bonnet, just under the windscreen on passenger side, there is a black plastic cover. on mine it was cracked and had a hole in it, dont know how, must have been like that when i got it. anyway,it had been glued back together, obviously the glue had melted and the thing started to leak again. the water went through into the air filter which is just above the glove box. then it seeps down into the footwell.
hope this helps

Leaking heater core, or clogged drain tube. Is it coolant or water? If it's water check the drain tube by inserting a length of hard wire or pipe cleaner up through it. It could also be a leaking windshield. Run a garden hose over the windshield and use a flashlight to check for where it's leaking from.

head gasket has gone but you havent stated if its a petrol or a diesel ,because the petrol one especially does have a bleed thump screw on the heater pipe at the back of the engine but if bleed and still pressurising then its a new gasket but these engine do suffer from head corrosion in the water ports if no antifreeze used and yours could have water ports that have corroded too large to hold ,its a 405 which is a old car now so it may be cheaper to buy a newer model

Peugeot 407, 2.0 litre diesel, 05,loss of power/air surge heard

I am not familiar with the 407 but I would think it is a HDi, if so what you describe is an air leak from a pipe from the pressure side of the turbo, I have had this on a Saab, in that case there was an over pressure switch under the dash and the pipe fell off. Look at the top of the engine, on the inlet side there will be a pipe from the inlet trunking or manifold, it should (maybe with a tee piece in there) go through the bulkhead

Hello, I have a Peugeot 405, and I recently noticed that the driver footwell is all wet. I first thought it was rain or humidity, but the problem persist even on dry wether. Anyone can help? Thanks

it sounds like your heater matrix is leaking and they are not nice to replace as the das has to come out. to confirm this check your coolant level.

if this helps please let me know
cheers

Water leak at air outlet to front footwells.

possibly heater core.....sits inside dash and water runs through it to heat up the car when you turn on the heater, need to get cooling system pressure tested to find out,or look under dash to trace leak,is air conditioner drain pipe clear, only drips when A/C is on under car and is normal...only when A/C is on

I just bought a 2001 306 lx estate deisel its my first deisel, should it be so loud?

jack up the car and look at the exhaust system..If you cant see or feel any holes or leaks then it could be up on the exhaust manifold..a peugot should not sound like a V8 diesel. you really shouldnt be able to tell its diesel until you floor it

Heater matrix has gone on my 405 diesel bypassed it

sounds like your inner cooler is leaking and is causing an air lock within your coolant system. Sorry to hear this, changing this part is time consuming. Hope this helps you.

Peugeot 405 1993 diesel estate

the alarm control unit is fitted under the drivers seat can be accessed from the rear foot well by putting seat fully forward .unscrew the two nuts holding the cover the relays are inside the unit.

this unit interfaces will tell the fuel stop solenoid to release (by applying 12 volts)

the fuel stop solinoid is on the main diesel pump under the bonnet - the exac location on the pump will depend on the make - but it should be cylindrical and have one wire connected to it - (i dont think peugeot were using multi wired coded soleniods in 93)

obivously if your car has the keypad immobilser you will know where this is - if it is the remote alarm immobilser the reciever is in the over head consol near the interior front light
