I have got the same problem, the fix is new gasket set, but do not us the cheap set, it wont last long, so I am told, most likely why GM has this problem, cheap gaskets. I am looking for information on how to replace them. Its about $90.00 for gasket set itself. Chev Garge want another $400 for labor. I can do it myself for free, & got tools but looking for infor on how best to go about it.

Intake manifold gasket. There was a class action law suit against GM for this defect.

My 2001 Terracan highlander has coolant leaking under the engine. Can someone tell me where the leak is coming from and how to fix it? The car has a v6 3.5l engine.

Could be welsh plugs on side of engine are corroded.
Could be a smaller pipe like a heater hose pipe or an auxilary cooling pipe .Had one of these little extra pipes on a mitsubishi sigma under the inlet manifold that was leaking.
Did you use a coolant in the engine as water can corrode welsh plugs in engines as I found out on my car !.

Coolant leak into Timing chain area on my 2002 Grand Vitara V6 engine.

vehicles that have aluminium housings are subject to corrosion making holes and allowing the coolant to escape in your case into the oil. I would be looking for corrosion holes behind the water pump impellor as the turbulance in this area helps the corrosion . You will have to replace the front housing if it is . It is most important to ensure that the coolant is at the correct concentration to prevent this

Radiator checked and no leaking - collant light comes on in dash-board display and the coolant in resovoir is low with no apparent leaking found???

You might have the leak in the system which comes effective as the engine warms up and the SEALED SYSTEM oozes off as steam from any of the joints, the radiator or the engine gaskets.
Top up the coolant and let the engine warm up on idling while you check for possible leaks in all the areas , water pump, engine and radiator.
Check also the pressure cap on the radiator, if required change as it must open up only at required temperature.

Why does my 2000 pontiac grand am leak coolant

coolant leaking could come from different areas, i would 1st start checking for leaks around the thermostat area, this is normally where the top radiator hose connects too, then i would look at the water pump area to see if any coolant is visable on the outside of it, also check your heater hoses for leaks too, some cars have even had antifreeze leaks coming from the freeze plugs, which are installed into the engines block, they are normally on the sides of the engines. don't forget to check out the radiator, a good way to find antifreze leaks is after you drive the car for a while, and then park it, and then put a large piece of cardboard under your car, make it large enough to go from the radiator to at least the windshield area, if it leaks then, you will be able to see what area the antifreeze has leaked.

After topping coolant levels up and driving for around 50 miles coolant is empty. If left standing still the coolant doesnt loose any. Have looked under car whilst engine and heating are on. Cannot see a...

It is surely a leak ,the coolant can go anywhere like apart from leaking, what is happening is when you are driving it leaks because there is more pressure in the radiator and it leaks somewhere ,why you don't see it,it is because the coolant is so hot and when the coolant when it leaks then hit the engine that is also hot, this make the leak coolant to evaporates very quickly that why you don't see it.Well what you have to do is top the coolant level, let someone start the engine you lift the bonnet standing in front of it,then tell the person inside the car to accelerate up 3000 rpm for near 10 minutes, then you watch carefully the radiator, hose and all the connection for the cooling system you will surely find the leaks where it comes from.Hope that clear your mind and solve it.
