Question about 2005 Peugeot 405
Can you get to 5th gear without removing the gearbox? There is a plate on the end and I'm sure I read somewhere that it is possible to repair 5th without dropping the box. I think the gearbox is the ML5C but I can't find a part number plate on it. The car is a 1999 Peugeot 406 HDi (110) Manual gearbox.
It only comes out of gear when slowing down. While there is load on the box it stays in gear. Peugeot dealer reckons its an 8 hour job to take off and replace the box. Cost about £1000 if they repair the gearbox. Seems a bit too much for a 10 year old car.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
