Bendix is not engaging off the starter . To test your starter ...while someone turns the ignition to start..have someone tap on the starter very lightly with a small hamer. If the benkix is stiking it will release and give you an idea that you need a new starter

I had to change steering colom .tape up bear wires arc one out lost all power to inside.what did i blow.cheeked all fuse

Probably blew a fusible link. These are usually located near the battery + or at the starter big hot wire. If you don't know about these, might want to do internet search for pictures and details because they can be difficult to find.

What wires go to the starter on a 97 3.8 chevy

there should be a large red wire mated with a smaller black wire, these connect to the large nut on the starter solenoid.there is also a small black wire thea gets connected to the small nut in the center of the salinoid this wire is the signal wire.bolting the starter to the engine is how the starter wire is the main power sourse from the battery and the small black wire comes from the ignition switch bolted to the steering colom

Starter motor keeps running

starter solinoide or ignition barrel faulty ! try key first by rotating slightly back from engauging cranking , if no change then remove live feed off solinoide from battery and hold in place by hand at battery end then try cranking to see if it stays engauged !

No engine cranck, no warning lights

Check solenoid on starter motor.

A quick fix which works on occasion when solenoid hasn't completely failed is to strike the starter motor body with a hammer whilst trying to start.

Check power to solenoid with the key turned to crank position.

No power to solenoid? Check steering lock cluster, relay and fuses.

Do you have a flashing key on the instrument cluster? Change or re-program the ignition key

If you have no warning lights, no power to solenoid then check negative terminal fixing from battery.

If all is well, yet no crank, then replace starter motor and solenoid.

I will strong recommend you, to inspect the wiring polarity.

2) The positive + with respective wire and ground or negative with respective ground.

3)Tight very well each connection.
4)Clean each connection from Oxide( very important)
5)Test the circuit breaker or fuse and reset or replace it.
6)If the problem persist. You must go to inspect the battery and Starter from your supplier company.

sincerely. G-b bless you.

Dead battery or loose of corroded battery cable connections. Disconnect the connections at the battery and clean the connections with a cleaning tool. Reconnect the cables and if it still will do nothing put a battery charger on the battery to charge it. If that does not work, remove the battery and take it to a auto parts store to have it tested. If it tests good then the starter or ignition switch may be defective.

Starter engauges turnes slowly. new starter batt neg and poss cab

First you should check the ground cable and ensure good contact. Second make sure the battery is fuly charged (over night is best on a slow charger). It looked like you said a new battery so a good charge should fix it if it is the problem. I assume you have good connections on the parts you already changed. It is probably a bad starter (motor). You can remove it and have it tested. If it is good you might have an internal engine problem. Try turning the crankshaft. It should turn by pulling on the drive belts. Well it sounds like a bad starter.

My turn signals dont work but my hazard lights are blinking. everything else in my car works just fine. my brother says that it was the hazard switch thats shorted out and the relay is causing a clicking...

Did the battery get changed recently? There is a small black box under dash near steering colom that has a little red button on it. Press the little button for a few secounds allowing it to reset the security system. It should stop your marker lights from flashing. It was a stock security for that year. The box is about 4 inch square and is usually just under dash near your knee. Good luck.
