Yes. check the fuses in the dash before you do this tho. The fuses in the dash will go out before the one in the stereo will. Hope this helps and saves some trouble.

Yea theres more fuses underneath the hood. should be a little box to the right of the motor. it shouldnt be any of those tho. Let me know if you checked the ones in the dash already.

if you kneel down and look underneath the driver side dash, where the gas pedal, ect, are located, you will see the fuse box under there. umm your year model changed fuse box locations also. If its not under the dash, it will be located to the left of the dash right on the side. radio fuse wil be a 15 amp fuse.

Fuse diagram for 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited

franky, im amazed at any CD still working this old and full of dirt.
amazing.........

RTM, (the operators guide even covers fuses, lost that :?)
see link below for the FREE BOOK.
posted 100;' of times how to do this, how to see real books.

99' Jeep first WJ year.
i click wiring audio
i click, your audio system (there are many options) CD premium.
fuse 30 (JB) runs the head.
if the radio works? then fuse 30 is not blown. so end path..
the CD is page 47-6
and the CD gets power from head end radio.
so it has power.!
and the Eject function is dead.
my guess(wild) is it's jammed and has a CD label or remains of a broke CD inside or is at END of life, as all do this old.

for sure costing more to fix then to UPGRADE

FYI----IMO::::
i'd buy a new media center and now have USB flash sticks full of music, CDs are mostly dead now. an IDEA that is ending now.
you can rip all your CD's to a mp3 file for free and is legal.
(not movies) just audio.
and they all fit on one USB stick size of Chicklet candy.

or remove CD unit
bench test it (add power to it)
remove cover, clean it?
check why its jamming, lots of labor here, and if not you, huge costs.

walmart has a radio with USB ports for $99 ,and a $15 adapter for jeeps.

you can look for a radio shop to repair the cd player it would be cheaper to install a aftermarket radio they do have kits if you have steering wheel controls

99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Radio and tape player works fine. Inserted 10-cd magazine and can hear cd's loading, but no light display on radio when cd button pushed. Is this fixable?

yes but why fix a 12 year old player ? something else will just go wrong after that heck cd players are cheap today and fit right in that opening

2006 grand cherokee cd player dont work

There are two power sources for your radio...one is full time and powers the clock, the other is on the accessory side...only hot with key on. check that power supply. Remember...fuses dont wear out...they blow for a reason. If you find a faulty fuse replace it...if it blows again, it is because there if a fault somewhere.
