Sounds like a loose connection to your alternator, check the plug and harness from the battery to the alternator. also check for loose terminals inside the connector to the alternator, make sure the terminals arent warped and bend into shape as needed. check for chafed wires or any alternator wires that could be contacting a ground causing a short. hope this helps!

Suggest having the alternator checked. If that checks out good, then you have a short in the wiring. The only way to find the short is to check each wire seperately from the alternator to the battery. It will take time to do this, so be patient. Hope this helps.

2000 t&c,battery light on.new battery.alt.tests good.got it back on the road.hit a bump and battery light came on.how can I find this short.on day it's perfect next thing, battery light is back on.

I suspect that the issue is a result of poor connections at the battery posts. Remove and clean the connections at both the battery + and - posts *AND* the + and - cable clamps / bolts with a small wire brush or a battery post cleaner. Next, mix a small amount of baking soda (1 or 2 tablespoons and 12 oz of water or so) and pour slowly over the top of the battery - do NOT allow it to enter the battery via caps or vents in the caps! Foaming is a sign of battery acid that has leaked on the battery and steals power for the battery much the way leaving a dome light on 24 hrs a day does. Rinse with water or garden hose thoroughly. After cleaning, apply an oxide inhibitor on posts and cable clamps (available at most auto-parts stores) or mix up vasaline & baking soda as shown in the video. Check that the fan belt that turns the alternator (yours may be a serpentine type - one belt for everything) is tight - not loose or otherwise slipping. Have it professionally checked / replaced if unsure.

My battery light and brake light goes on , some time goes off and on / I have a new battery and I change the altalnator

Check the battery terminals (where they are connected to the engine.) Those clamps can be loose or corroded. It happened to me and if i hit a bump or the road was bumpy, the battery cables would slide loose and the power would flicker or die completely
Open the hood when the car is off and try to wiggle the positive nad negative connections on your battery. They shouldn't move at all. If they're loose, tighten them up carefully. If they're covered in battery acid or corroded, then you may need new terminals for your new battery to connect well to your engine. Good luck, i hope this helps.

Warning lights

My 2002 Disco was doing the same problem, I checked the battery terms. and realized they were loose so when i was driving down the road and hit even the slightest bump all my warning lights came on. i changed out the terminals and made sure they were tight and have not had any problem since. I hope this helps Tracy in Vegas
