Question about 2001 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

My 2001 Chevy Impala won't start, and engine won't turn over. No electrical, lights, radio-nothing. Alarm remote won't work and power door locks won't work either. The car is completly dead except for a low "power up" sound and three clicks coming from the passenger side dash/glove box, and the check engine light is on upon car entry. What could this be?

i had a 2002 impala 3400 v6 and the same noise was coming from the passengers side door. i bet before that clicking started you had a service soon light on your dash for about 3 months thinking you will get it looked at when you get the money. i drove with that light on and it started making the noise and then the door locks stoped working and everything else from all the lights on the dash coming on and then it stoped starting. the whole time i was driving it with that light on there was an electrical problem nocking everything out and you have no idea that it is doing that until it is to late. it ended up nocking the computer out in the car and it just screwed everything up. as soon as that light came on i should have got it looked at. it litterly nocked out EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. 2000 dollars of work had to be done. it is important to lisen to your car when it says service vichel soon. what a bad lesson to learn.

First things first. Do you have a volt meter to check the battery voltage? What engine do you have?
Let me know.

If the battery has gone dead, it could cause the security system to go into full lock-up mode. If it has locked up the accessories will work after the battery is charged back up , but the power to the starter will be cut off and it wont turn over. You need to do the 30 minute learn procedure. A GM dealer will print it out for you and you can do it yourself. It's very simple if you follow the procedure exact. hope this helps and good luck.

Where is the fuse box on my '99 Durango SLT 5.2?

. most likely you need to change the remote battery. It's responcable for many things working correctly. my daughters car locked on her and the alarm sounded and had to disconnect battery in her car to get alarm to stop. when a theft is in process the vehicle takes over and don't allow it to crank and the radio also stops working along with other things. so try battery first in remote.

2001 blazer possible electrical issue

Start with a new brake light switch that is located along the brake pedal. It was a good call to relace the multifuction switch the light do go through that switch. Now to the door lock in order to turn on the radio. you have to hold it down when you are pressing the switch down and the radio turn so some one borrowed power to that circuit and that is our clue. This is all related. You may still have a aftermarket alarm that is still attach inspect and remove it if is installed.Look under the dash at the steering column

If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.

2001 chevy impala security light keeps coming on

This is a problem with chevy vehicles that have the system theft light. after a couple of years of using the key, the lock tumblers inside the ignition switch tend to wear out and so causing the system to think it's being stolen. Now you have to put the key in and turn the ignition to the on position, without cranking the car and leave it for 10 minutes until the theft light goes out. Very annoying especially if you're in a hurry. The dealer cost to repair the ignition switch goes for about $600-$800. that includes re-teaching the key.
