Which Sensor Is IT??

I Own A 94 hONDA aCCORD LX. I was driving yesterday and out of the clear blue sky my speedometer started jumping irratically. Simontaneous with the speedometer the car started jerking then when i gained speed above 40mph and entered the Highway I was doin about 70mph and set the Cruise Control on and the speedometer set as normal. The problem stopped. Then Today when i started the car up i drove about 3 blocks and the D4 started to blink. HOW DO I FIX THIS??? PLEASE HELP- I narrowed the problem down to 2 possible sensors....The Speedometer Gear Sensor (on The Tranny), or the Vehicle Speed Sensor. These sensors are only sold by the dealer and have no refund policy so its imperitive that I get this rite...

My daughter had the same problem yesterday. Only her check engine light came on first, but it went out after the car was started again. Then the speedometer went crazy and car started acting up. When I drove the car a couple hours later it was ok. But only went around the block. Would like to find the problem and how to fix it too.

I had (and now Have again) the same problem. It is the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Its cheap online, I bought mine and it started working. Seems like its a common thing to fail on Accords, But mine started failing again, I think I might need to reinstall it.

Go to a junk yard, they are way cheaper and the chances of them going bad are very slim..

I have a 94 honda accord lx and the drive blinks non stop and the speedometer works sometimes

Blinking of the D light is a message for detected trouble in the transmission. The transmission needs badly the speed information for proper functioning. A faulty speed sensor / cable anywhere will cause the transmission to protect itself, and display a malfunction. If not mechanically inclined, take vehicle to shop and have them inspect the speed sensor / plug / wire that attaches to transmission bellhousing and the other connections associated with it.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord DX that has a speedometer problem. I replaced the speed sensor and that was not it. The speedometer works sometimes and then goes out. It has been doing this for three years. ...

We had the same problem with our 94 DX. It turned out to be a bad connection in the instrument cluster connector to harness connector . Try hitting the top of the dash while driving when the speedometer is not working and see if it starts to work while you're hitting the dash . If it does , you probably have the same problem we did . I pulled the instrument cluster and disconnected the harness and I bent the connector terminals with a small screwdriver so it would make a better connection . It worked .

Flashing green s on the dash

A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
