I replaced the fuel pump, harness, filter, distributor ,cap ,rotor, and relay. my 96 chevy suburban still doesnt start. i dont hear the fuel pump motor but the relay is working. dont know what to do n

BYM, Back Yard Mechanic...You will need a Mechanics Manual...Chilton's, Haines, or OEM...Look thru the wiring diagrams, BEFORE you start dicing, and far as your real problem...did you replace the Ignition Control Module, that is inside the Distributor cap??? It's Black, and has several wires that attach to it...those are the 1st thing you want to look at, before you start messing with the fuel delivery system, Buy A New ICM, or 2, and replace it, it's good to keep a spare around (in your vehicle). You will need a 7 mm socket, w/extension, and obviously, a driver of some sort, ratchet, or nut driver type. Good Luck.

I would check the fuel pump relay if there is no power to the wire. If that doesnt help, i would look for a blown fuse in the under hood power disturbution center.

I just replaced the fuel pump again, it engaged and pump worked, once! what could cause this? any relays or fuses to look at?

It's common for the wire harness from the pump to the frame to go bad when the fuel pump is replaced. The harness is around $15.00 and should be replaced the same time the fuel pump is replaced. If you can get to the wire harness to move it around and see if the fuel pump would start to work, then you know it's the wire harness and you can also disconnect the wire harness at the frame to check for 12v. Food for thought also, was the fuel filter replaced shortly after the fuel pump??? It may have picked up dirt that got in the gas tank and is not to dirty to let fuel flow through. Good luck and keep me posted.

1999 oldsmobile silhouette van won't start. no power to fuel pump

I have a silhouette and it had the same problem
Follow the fuel pump wiring harness to where it plugs into the floor of the van--pull the connectors apart--they will probably be corroded, and you will possibly have to change both wiring harnesses or connectors.

I have a 5.7 1500 chevrolet express van I cannot hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key forward. I have tried to use a test light to see if I have power to the fuel pump and I have nothing. I...

We you will only have power to the fuel pump harness for a few secounds when you first turn the key on when you are cranking the truck over there should be power there constant. I would chaeck teh power and ground wires right at the pump harness while cranking the engine over. If you do have power there the pump sounds like it is bad. If you replace it replace the entire fuel pump and sender and also the harness to the pump as they bo bad alot. Also the in line fuel filter

Fuel pump

I just replaced my fuel filter and check the pump along; I would replace the right wire harness so you don't want any sparks there b/c you might burn your engine since older vehicle tends to leak here & there so be very careful.
