Question about 2000 Lincoln Continental

2000 Lincoln Contential Service Engine Soon Light

I have a Lincoln Contential with 62000 miles on and runs perfect except my check engine light is on. We've disconnected the battery and the light is off for about 120 miles, then it's on again. As I said the car runs fine, no backfiring, good gas milage.
Could it be a "suggested" service is causing the light to come on?

Yes...they do program the computers to come on or give a "service engine soon" light so that you will bring them back into the dealership....if you have access to an obd2 diag tool you can reset the codes yourself

Do you get a check engine light? Generally this problem can be caused by a leaking injector or the "cold" enrichment (modern version of a choke).

How to reset Service Engine Soon light after replacing gas cap? Took to AutoZone when the Service Engine Soon light came on Error code P0440.

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. Reconnect after and the code will clear. However if the problem persists, the code will come back with in 20 miles or 30 minutes.

My service engine soon light is flashing on my 2000 Lincoln Town Car and the car acts like it wants to kill

When the service light is flashing, this is a very serious matter. The car should really not be driven, esp. more than even a few miles to a repair shop. The flashing symbol is different than the always on symbol, in that it signifies a potentially engine ruining outcome.

Service engine soon light

a check engine light or service engine soon just means you are not meeting emissions. definitely not a big deal.
go to autozone and have them do a free scan and get the fault codes.

Also, try this first - disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour and see if it turns the light off. Drive for 10 miles and it may run rough until it relearns your engine controls.
let us know results.
