Mazda RX8 starting problem

My Mazda RX8 won't start without a jump. It just makes a clicking sound or nothing. The lights seem to work.

Check that your battery is fully charged. If it does not sustain a charge , replace it. Clean the cables and battery posts with baking soda and water mixture. About 1/4 cup to a pint. If it still does not turn with a fully chared battery, it is probably the starter that is bad. It will have to be replaced. One click usually means the starter is bad. Several clicks usually means the battery is bad.

mazda have a reliable ECM so unless you have shorted out the battery or done something equally bad , I would not touch the ECM.
possible a crank position sensor problem, igniter problems or as you say fuel problem
with rats, check every wire for damage , connections for corrosion
If you have a mazda service enter , they will have the code scanner for the car

1992 toyota pickup won't start and battery won't charge

Sounds like your battery is just too dead, has enough juice to light up the system for a minute but cranking drains it and if it wont charge then deff fried, you could try removing the battery and starting the car with cables to confirm the starter still works. If a bettery is too dead then when you are jumping it, it takes to much of the power just trying to get through the battery.

You say he removed the fuel pump fuse? Do you mean he changed the fuse? The fuel pump can't work without the fuse. Perhaps the fuse is blowing and causing the engine to stall and not restart. Find the fuel pump relay and swap it with another relay of the same type. Make sure the fuel pump fuse is good. If the engine starts, drive it around close to home until you think it's had time to stall out again. If it down'nt stall this time then the relay is bad and needs to be replaced.
