Question about 1996 Cadillac DeVille
I wanted to install an ALPINE cd player into my 1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville, the problem is that when the cd player turns on either only one speaker will turn on, or all of them will but not much sound will come out of them. I checked twice to make sure all the wires were properly connected if anyone knows or has encountered this kind of problem any advice will help
Take the connector out of the radio for the speakers, measure from chassis ground to the negative of a speaker, if you get 4 ohms,,,8 ohms something like that, then I believe that the negative on the radio for each speaker is not to be connected to chassis ground of which the speakers are, if you got the resistance to ground i mentioned before. Most all car radios today have the 2 leads going to each speaker, just because it may say - (minus) on the speaker doesn't mean ground. So, if one side of the speaker is grounded you have to remove it from ground so nothing is grounded. If caddy only has one wire coming from the speaker, your will have to run a single wire probably to each speaker, but check what I said before. I will check mine tomorrow and let you know. I have the same car. I still have the original set up.
