Does light come on as soon as you turn on the igntion switch and stay on or does it come on for a couple of secs, then go out and then come back on after you start driving?

Ok the reason I ask is that will help to pinpoint the concern. See ABS system when you first turn the ignition on will do a self test on itself, light turns on for a few seconds then turns off if everything proves out. Then when you start driving once you reach about 12 mph it will activate the pump and perform a 2nd self test.If everything is ok light stays off,if it see's a problem it turns on the light and disables the ABS.
Since yours comes on after you start driving then problem is most likely a wheel speed sensor concern. Since you just did a rear brake job and the problem started after this I would say it is one of the rear sensors. You need to look at the sensors and make sure the sensor and ring look ok and that you didn't get grease or dirt in the teeth of the sensor ring or maybe bent the end of one of the sensors and make the gap larger between sensor and ring.

Look on the back side of the hub or spindle and you will see a wire going into it with 1 bolt holding it in.This is the sensor. On the hub itself you will see a ring with teeth that is pressed onto the hub.The end of the sensor will be there sticking past the ring and there should be a small gap between them usually around 0.045 of an inch. Look at both sides make sure the gap between them looks the same and make sure one of the rings hasn't come loose or cracked.

So you now have ABS light as soon as you turn on ignition and also now the red brake light is coming on?

If ABS light comes on as soon as you turn on igntion that is an electrical fault in system.

The ABS module is self-monitoring. When the key is turned ON, the ABS module will carry out an electrical continuity check. At approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) the pump motor is turned on for approximately 0.5 second and a dynamic wheel speed sensor check is carried out.

Now if the red brake light is coming on that indicates a hydraulic problem and this causes ABS to automatically shut down. Is your fluid level low in master cylinder or maybe the float sensor sticking?

    Also check the flowing fuses:

  • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse(s):

    • 11 (30A)
    • 21 (20A)

  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse(s):

    • 42 (15A)
    • 46 (7.5A)
    • 61 (7.5A)

If you can not find problem there you are going to have to get someone with a scan tool that will communicate with the ABS system to retrieve trouble codes to know where to start.

Ok, look at the end of the outer CVC joint on the left front wheel. You will see the sensor ring.

Look at the at the pic and right behind the box with the 204-607 in it that is the sensor ring.

Look the ring over good and see if it is cracked or broken,or loose where it may move back and forth.

ABS light and traction light and no cruise control

how on earth would the blind know what is wrong.?
    scan it? yet?
btw, newer cars cut cruise feature for any signs of danger.
    new laws...
the traction needs ABS to work ,so forget that and fix ABS.
ABS needs 2 things to work , brakes and ABS.

so if brakes are bad, then ABS will get upset.
after all, if it cant brake right, how can the puter save you?
if brakes are known to be ok (inspections work here)
but in this case it was BREACHED by you, with out reading the book first.
then scan the ABS. (omg? code for dead sensor?) nah, you caused it..

ABS resets every key on. so...
my guess, if ABS was happy before your actions( you never said)
then you got air in to the system. and failed to follow the FSM instructions on bleeding brakes, in ABS car.

front caliper, did you block the hose with cap, so it didn't allow air to the modulator? oops... never just let them drip... or . max pain.
bleed it again, (using any or all 5 ways to do so, bleeding is skill thing) (many modulators can not just be simply bled)

now Ill quote the 2012 fSM for you , under brakes

    Data: -----------------------------------------------------------------
    ABS Brake Bleeding

ABS system bleeding requires conventional bleeding methods plus use of a scan tool. The procedure involves performing a base brake bleeding, followed by use of the scan tool to cycle and bleed the HCU pump and solenoids. A second base brake bleeding procedure is then required to remove any air remaining in the system.

Perform base brake bleeding, (Refer to Brakes - Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).

Connect scan tool to the Data Link Connector.

Select ANTILOCK BRAKES, followed by MISCELLANEOUS, then ABS BRAKES. Follow the instructions displayed. When scan tool displays TEST COMPLETE, disconnect scan tool and proceed.

Perform base brake bleeding a second time, (Refer to Brakes - Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).

Top off master cylinder fluid level and verify proper brake operation before moving vehicle.

try bleeding your ABS block first, if that doesn not work could need a master or proportioning vavle. Some scan tools are capable of bleeding the ABS system on some vehicles, and some you have to bleed manually.

I changed the brakes on my 2004 GMC Envoy. Everything is good accept the service brakes light is on and won't turn off. How can I turn it off?

Do you have a good brake pedal, does it hold when pushed? Is the ABS light on too?
There may be air in the brake lines, there may be dirt in the lines. Have you tried bleeding the system?

Need to rest my proportional brake valve on my 1996 sonoma 4x4 I replaced all the brake lines to the ABS, the ABS brake light stays on and I have only less than half the brake fluid flow at the rear

By the sounds of it you need to bleed your brakes the ABS light should go out by itself if this is done unless their is a ABS problem.Remeber when you bleed brakes that have ABS you must have the vehicle running when you bleed them.

Driver side brake not bleeding properly after bleeding left side and changing rotors, calipers, and pads?

first of all make sure master cylinder is full of brake fluid.then you crank car leave foot off brake pedal. watch abs light on dash it should turn off in 10 seconds if not have car towed to garage or dealer. they have to use a scanner to scan the abs brakes if abs light turn off in 3 seconds. then starting bleeding from master bleed the lower brake line fitting at the proportional valve followed by the upper brake line fitting. keep eye on brake fluid in mastercylinder dont let run prime the abs hydralic modulator.connect the bleeder hose to the rear bleeder valve on the the other end into a container partially filled with cleab brake fluid.make sure the end of the hose is the bleeder valve slowly about 1/2 to 3/4 turn have an assistant depress the brake pedal and hold it in the depressed position. when the flow of fluid ceases close the bleeder valve.repeat process until no air bubbles are present in the fluid.then tighten the bleed valve securely. start bleeding brakes. your bleeding sequence is right rear - left front - left rear - right front.WARNING IF ALL FAILS YOUR BRAKES DONT FEEL SOLID AND FEEL VERY SPONGY.DONT DRIVE CAR. HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.THEY WILL HAVE TO PRESSURE BLEED YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM.

Its probably how your bleeding your brakes, but first make sure the bleeding nipples are facing upward. You should bleed diagonaly, front pass wheel then rear driver wheel. Then front driver wheel and rear pass wheel. The abs light has its own computer your have to get it scanned to clear the codes and turn off the light
