Question about 2003 Nissan Sentra

Nissan Almera 52 plate. not starting when it stalls.

Engine management light on, when it stalls, it wont start again, have been told there is too much fuel going through to the sparks. Its in a garage at the moment and I have been told its the catalytic converter, Im not sure about this. Please can you help and is it expensive. Ive noticed that there was a Nissan Recall for cars up to 2002, which is mine, with the same problem. can I still take it although I am not the original owner.

Thank you very much for that, its definately worth a try, but it wont start again at the moment. I did notice that these cars were recalled due the the problem of them not starting and they came up with the solution that it was the position of the engine management sensors, and these should be replaced. Someone else told me that it was the catalytic converter which had melted due to the amount of petrol going through it? Not convinced about that one though. Thank you again for your solution.

So it could possible be the cotalytic converter then. But the main cause of the problem is that there is too much fuel being pushed through when the car is started, then it floods and wont start. The car doesnt use much oil, and there is no soot around the exhaust pipe that I have noticed. It had a new mid section and back box fitted to it in September, but it had this problem before it, although it has got worse.

The man at the garage said he would do that, but because he thinks the catalytic converter has a problem, he thinks the machine will throw out all sorts of errors and not get a true reading, so I really don't know. I think its one of thos problems that Ill never know the answer to. I must have the only dudd Nissan Almera!!!!. Ive heard they are really reliable cars.

One of the items you can try is to turn on the ignition switch, so the dash board lights come on, and wait 10 seconds before you start the engine. You have an electric fuel pump and it must build up pressure so you have the correct volume of fuel going to the fuel injectors. The fuel from the fuel pump goes to the fuel rail that supplies fuel to the fuel injectors. There is a pressure regulator to keep the fuel at the proper pressure. The excess fuel is then returned to the gas tank. On my 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R SPEC V, I had similar problems. By waiting this amount of time I have ensured the pressure was up in the fuel delivery system and it was working as designed. I may have a bad check valve which then allows the gas to drain from the fuel rail, but I have not gotten this far yet in my own repair. This has allowed my car to start and not flood out, if it stalls as I had seen before. You may be experiencing the samething.

If your check engine light is on, you may have fouled spark plugs, check these out also, especially if you are seeing cylinder misfire in one or more cylinders.

The 2002 up to 2004, had problems with the catalytic converter that was just under the exhaust manifold. These cars had serveral problems that has given them a bad name. This is one of the 2 main problems. The catalytic converter has a ceramic core that looks like a honeycomb. It is porous to let the exhaust gases pass through and to give a large surface area to come into contact with the unburnt fuel, therefor the high heat involved. The problem was the ceramic would "dust" and in some cases small portions would flake off and be pulled back into the cylinder bore and cause damage to the cylinder wall and the pistom rings. In many cases the damage was so seveer that the engine was damaged and had to be replaced or rebuilt.

Are you eperiencing excessive oil consumption? If this has occurred then you will definetly be burning oil and the spark plugs will foul. This will continuously send a misfire signal to the computer as a fault code. Also Look at the tail pipe and around the bumper where the exhaust exits and look for a black soot like material.

Do you have a way of checking out the fault code(s) so you know exactly what the codes signify?

I have a 2004 nissan sentra ser 2.5 litre that needs to be cranked exsesive times to start after sitting for a while. I beleive the fuel pressure regulator is letting fuel bypass back to tank and not holding pressure at injectors but i hae spent 20 plus hours searching and calling around to find an OEM replacement with no luck. The fuel pressure regulator is all over the internet for sale for the 1.6 litre base model for about 36 bucks. Hor do i get one for this vehicle and do you beleive i am on the right track or could this be a problem with the fuel pump assembly? I have already replaced the expensive pump and still the same problem.

Nissan Almera wont start with code P0345

Code 345 means the cam sensor on bank two is not sending the correct signal to the engine computer. So no spark.
If you have replaced the sensor, the problem could be the cam or the wiring from the sensor to the computer.

Engine warning light on Nissan Almera 03

its very simple. You can see a black hose from the engine which connects the metal pipe. just remove it and you can see three gold color pin from the metal pipe. scratch that pins using a salt paper and fix it. Now check whether you get started or not. Thanks.
