Question about 2003 Nissan Sentra
Engine management light on, when it stalls, it wont start again, have been told there is too much fuel going through to the sparks. Its in a garage at the moment and I have been told its the catalytic converter, Im not sure about this. Please can you help and is it expensive. Ive noticed that there was a Nissan Recall for cars up to 2002, which is mine, with the same problem. can I still take it although I am not the original owner.
One of the items you can try is to turn on the ignition switch, so the dash board lights come on, and wait 10 seconds before you start the engine. You have an electric fuel pump and it must build up pressure so you have the correct volume of fuel going to the fuel injectors. The fuel from the fuel pump goes to the fuel rail that supplies fuel to the fuel injectors. There is a pressure regulator to keep the fuel at the proper pressure. The excess fuel is then returned to the gas tank. On my 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R SPEC V, I had similar problems. By waiting this amount of time I have ensured the pressure was up in the fuel delivery system and it was working as designed. I may have a bad check valve which then allows the gas to drain from the fuel rail, but I have not gotten this far yet in my own repair. This has allowed my car to start and not flood out, if it stalls as I had seen before. You may be experiencing the samething.
If your check engine light is on, you may have fouled spark plugs, check these out also, especially if you are seeing cylinder misfire in one or more cylinders.

I have a 2004 nissan sentra ser 2.5 litre that needs to be cranked exsesive times to start after sitting for a while. I beleive the fuel pressure regulator is letting fuel bypass back to tank and not holding pressure at injectors but i hae spent 20 plus hours searching and calling around to find an OEM replacement with no luck. The fuel pressure regulator is all over the internet for sale for the 1.6 litre base model for about 36 bucks. Hor do i get one for this vehicle and do you beleive i am on the right track or could this be a problem with the fuel pump assembly? I have already replaced the expensive pump and still the same problem.
