Question about 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Steps to remove radio

I have a 2004 Santa Fe that the factory CD/Tape player died while a CD was in it. I want to replace the radio and at the same time retrieve my CD. What are the steps for removing the radio? Does the dash bezel around the radio snap in/out or is there some screens that need removed first? Do I need to remove the fan and heater knobs first before removing the bezel? Is there a link showing these steps available? Hyundai's solution is to bring it in and get a new $1000 radio...

Thanks

  • Step 1:Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal. Position the cable to is doesn't come in contact with any metal parts.

  • Step 2:Pull out the ashtray and remove the two screws that connect the bezel around the radio. Pull off the climate control knobs and remove the two screws at the top of the bezel trim.

  • Step 3:Remove the trim and disconnecting any wires. Not all models will have connecting wires on the trim.

  • Step 4:Locate the two screws, one on each side of the Hyundai Santa Fe stereo, and pull the head unit out of the dash. Disconnect the wires behind the radio.

On my 2002 Santa Fe, while playing the radio the speakers keep going on and off; but the cd player is fine. How would I gain access to replace the stereo?

to access the stereo you need to remove the dash piece around the control panel. after that you will see 2 or 4 screws holding in the stereo housing remove that and the stereo should slide right out. good luck.

Radio has no power 2004 santa fe no power going to radio only flashing red light for theft deterrent. no power because the display does not light up,not the fuse either checked it.

There's no quick solution for this. Have you checked your fuses (specifically the power-bar fuses). Have you removed the radio (audio unit) and checked wiring/connections? If you don't have the wiring diagram, you can go to HMAservice.com's web site and register and access the ETM (electrical Troubleshooting manual) for your Santa Fe (http://www.hmaservice.com/)
