The windows in my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic don't work

I checked the fuses under the hood and by the passengers side of the truck I didn't find anything marked power windows no burnt fuses. Is there another fuse box I'm not seeing?

  • dmomberg Feb 20, 2009

Yes Iv'e checked the box under the hood no fuses burnt nothing marked windows.

  • dmomberg Feb 20, 2009

Do you mean the box on the opposite side of the battery.

  • dmomberg Feb 20, 2009

No test light. Might be able to find one.

  • dmomberg Feb 20, 2009

My daughter drives it so I don't have it with me I've check every fuse that I can find, I've asked the local dealer they want $90.00 per hr. Had the truck for one week the windows worked fine. I was cleaning the thing out one day and had all the doors open, the battery ran down, I charged it back up, been starting and running fine even in sub 0 temps so can't be the battery. Thats when the windows quit working

I found the problem. It was a broken wire between the drivers door and the jam. spliced and working great. Now break light on back top not working changed bulb, not the problem, checked wire as far back as I could without dismanteling anything.

There is a small pannel near the floorboards on the passenger side, just forward of the doorjam, if none of the fuses in there are bad, then you should peal back the boots between the doors and the frame and check for broken, warn, or grounded wires and repair them. This is a common problem found on the xj series.

Again, if the fuses arent the problem try checking the boots between the door and the body. See my previous solution.

Let's lift the hood & have a look just for fun O.K.? Rectangular box with plastic cover, and it should have "Power distribution" stamped on it. (ha-ha)

OOOps, sorry ! Didn't see that you already found it & checked it.

I'll see if I can find source for info on relay or anything else. Try to get back a.s.a.p. Do you own a 12 voltDC test light by chance?

You have two sets of fuses. One set is on the passenger side kick panel, the other is under the hood attached near the battery labeled power distribution center.

I have a lhd grand cherokee and ive lost positive feed to passenger side electric windows and folding door mirror checked fuses no fuse for electric windows

There is only one fuse for all power window and power mirror operation (Fuse 12 (50A) in under hood fuse panel). If the passenger side window and mirror functions are not working, and you have verified that there is no power going to the passenger door module (pin 1 of C1 connector), then there is a wiring issue in the harness.

Blower motor to heat and defroster does not work

you may only have a blown heater blower fuse, look in the fuse box for a blown fuse.check both fuse boxes, including the black fuse box under the hood. if fuses are good, try tapping on the fan box on driverside under dash, sometimes leaves get in it and stop it up. if you don't find the fan box under passenger side dash, look under hood on passenger side on firewall. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Where is fusebox '96 jeep cherokee classic 4x4

97 is on the right side passenger kick panel. Look there and also under dash on drivers side. There is a second set of "main" fuses under the hood in the power distribution center near the battery. The fastest and easiest way to check them is to use a test light and probe both end openings of each fuse with the key in the"on"position. All fuses should have power at both ends except for the light fuse which is only hot with the lights on.

Need fuse diagram from 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Don't have owner's manual. The fuse box under hood has words on it, but not the one inside on passenger's side near floorboard
