Question about 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan
Where do I begin? I guess I will start with the electrical problem first. Today I started my van and all the lights dimmed and I smelled something burning and the battery light came on, so I shut the van off immediately. This happened before about 2 months ago, and it never did again til today, any ideas? I thought maybe an alternator, but was not sure. Please someone help me, its my only way to get to work. Thanks
Check all battery connections, wiring at alternator, for scorched ends, loose and/or corroded connections, as well as any power distribution boxes under hood. take close look at belt(s) for scorched or burnt edges, or deep grooves, as sign of trouble.Personally if I didn't find anything obvious, I would remove belt (s) and try moving all pulleys & idlers by hand, and feel for binding etc. When that's done, if you must, have someone start & be ready to shut it down quickly, as you observe pulleys, belts etc.
