I have a 1998 Chevrolet silverado extended cab and i am having trouble with the evaporative emissions control system how do i fix it?

Smelling fumes is usually the indication of a leak. Some models have a charcoal canister that is part of the emission control system Check that to insure it is not impacted and not allowing proper recycling. Always check with dealership for recalls because if this was a recall item even though you may not be the first owner the recall still applies and will often be fixed for free.

Fuel smell inside car when using heater especially on a cold day or when stopping the car

This is a somewhat common problem on Nissan products.
The V6 engine has several small rubber hoses connecting the fuel lines, and when it is cold weather the hoses leak fuel.
The heater - defroster picks up the fumes from the outside vent under the windshield. When you are moving the fumes flow under the van.
If you can find the leak sometimes you can just tighten up a clamp or two.

GAS SMELL WHEN HEATER IS ON WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM

Usually means there is a fuel leak in the engine compartment, and the heater is pulling the fumes into the car thru the vents under the windshield.

Gas smell and burning smell from honda 1997

Could be two different problems.
If the check engine light is not on, I would look at the vapor canister for the gas tank. Its usually mounted in the engine compartment.
If you have a small oil leak, the fumes will be sucked into the passenger compartment thru the cowl vents.

Fumes escaping from ac vents inside vehicle while driving and leaves a film residue on inside of windshield whenever the heat or defrost are used.

Hello dedunwoodie.
Your heater core is beginning to leak coolant.
As the fan blows through it it is picking up the liquid and depositing it on your windshield.
It will need to be replaced to solve your problem.

I have a 1991 Chevy Camaro rs, and when i use the heating either defrosting windshields or just for heat, i can smell some kind of fumes coming from the heat?

Hi,
My name is Chuck and I'd like to help you figure this out. The smell you have,is it a sweat smell? When you turn on the defroster, does steam form on the inside on the glass?Have you noticed the cooling system level going down? Or is the floor wet on the passenger side?If you are experiencing any or all of this, you have a leaking heater core.
Let me know if this is what you are experiencing and if you want information on how to replace it. Thanks,Chuck

Emission controls problems, fumes from exhaust smells like raw ga

if you ran for very long with a bad oxygen sensor you may have plugged up your catilytic converter. Take it to any exhaust shop usually they will check it for free. this will usually be the cause of the bad smell.
