Question about 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible
Take a good look at wiring running in to door at hinged end. You may have to open up the loom enough to see wires. Look for an area that appears weak, kinked, or shows signs of where it bends all the time, you'll probably find a wire or 2 showing signs of cracks, or ready to break. Disconnect battery for safety before cutting.Cut wire(s) at weak point, strip both ends, slide some shrink tube down one end past stripped part, then solder together if possible, but if not available, a good **** connector if you have room, but also shrink tube it after you crimp it, for added strength & protection.
