Question about 2003 Ford Escort

1 Answer

Fuel issue turns over very well, no fire. possible fuel pump? or better yet filter? Yes there is gas in the car. The car was running fine, then as the pedal was pressed the car would start to stall. When you take your foot off it would continue to run. Now it won't fire at all. Help?

My 2004 ford explorer was running fine it started missing lights went off and now willnot start or turnover

You need to find out what is missing Fuel or ignition. and repair the issue.. you do this by cranking it and seeing if there is any spark going to spark plugs.. if you have spark you will need to see if you have fuel pressure. easy way is to squirt a little fuel into throttle body and see if fires .. if it does then you are missing fuel.. Then you need to find out if it is a fuel pump relay, fuel pump, or possibly something as simple as a clogged fuel filter. When yyou turn the key to on yyou may be able to hear the fuel pump come on for 1-2 seconds to charge the system. The fuel pump is in the gas tank.. so listen and see if tiu can hear it.. some time the pump will run but not pump fuel.

Car was running fine Now it wont start Turns over but seems like no gas

Is the check engine light on? Rent a scanner to read out any codes which should point to certain problem areas. Can you hear the fuel pump run for a few moments (when the key is turned on), then shut off? If not, check the fuse and relay for same. Possible fuel filter problem. Try some starting fluid or gas in the throttle body which should make it fire a few times. Hope some of this helps!

Jeep grand cheeroke will not start need help

TWO POSSIBLE ISSUES. A MOTOR NEEDS TWO THINGS TO RUN. FUEL AND FIRE. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FUEL PUMP IS WORKING BY LOCATING THE FUEL RAIL AND USING THE SHRADER VALVE, CHECK THE PRESSURE. THEN CHECK YOUR INJECTORS. IF THOSE ARE FINE THEN CHECK YOUR FUEL FILTER. IF YOUR FUEL SYSTEM IS FINE. THEN THERE IS THE FIRE PROBLEM. CHECK TO SEE IF YOU ARE GETTING A GOOD SPARK FROM YOUR SPARK PLUGS.
THE OTHER ISSUE MAY BE YOUR STARTER. IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE FROM YOUR ENGINE WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, THEN YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW STARTER.

Car was parked and running and just killed on its own and will not start. does this sound like the fuel pump or maybe fuel filter?

If the battery is strong and charged, starter is fine, car ran okay while getting progressively worse until it died and won't restart now, might be fuel filter or pump. I've dealt with two cars with fuel filter issues. Both would idle fine, but run progessively worse under load and eventually die and not start although everything else checked out. Engine turned fast enought to start, battery strong, alternator fine, air cleaner clean, all that. No start. Changed fuel filters and done. Everything back to normal. Both cars were about model year 1990 (1989 and 1991). Replaced one in a parking lot and car fired right back up and powered on home just fine, whereas the week leading up to it it ran worse and worse, hesitated on acceleration and finally would die if you hit the gas. Fuel filter may be in engine compartment. Looks like a canister with an in and an out for fuel. Pump is in gas tank and is way more work and money. Good luck, hope this helps.

Suddenly, my 92 Sonoma will not start, I just parked it a while ago and hopped in to start it and it just turns over forever but not even a flump flump...before it started immediately. I checked fuel,...

Better do a fuel pressure test, just because you can hear the pump running dosent mean its pumping, or you can pour a little gas in the throutle body and see if it will fire, or if its injection spray a little WD 40 in the throught and see if it will fire, if it does than chanses are its the pump. Also for some reason fuel pumps usely go out when you have a full tank of gas.

CANT FIGURE IT OUT

Is the fuel pump running? Take the gas cap off and put your ear by the filler. Now have someone turn the key to the on position (not all the way to start). You should hear the fuel pump run for about 3 seconds. If you don't hear the pump run, the most likely culprit is the fuel pump itself. Second possibility is the fuel pump relay.
