Question about 1997 Honda Civic

1 Answer

Car struggles to get into first gear after it has warmed up.

I have a1997 Honda Civic DX, with a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine. When the car is somewhat cold and not fully warmed up, it has no problem shifting properly after coming to a stop, and then accelerating on the gas. But after it has warmed up, and i come to a stop, and push down on the gas, it shakes, likes its struggling to get into the first gear. This is not a stick shift. Please help

You probably have a problem with your CV joints. There is a device that helps in the shifting of gears that needs looking at. I assume it shifts to the other gears when it is warm ? How many miles do you have and are most of the miles on the highway? I hope this isn't leading to a transmission breakdown. Have you had the transmission serviced regularly and filter changed?

My clutch won't engage 1997 Honda civic

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

1983 Honda Civic with 1.5 liter 4cyl - I gave it a tune-up but I think I crossed the wires. I need to know the firing order on the cap.

4-3-2-1 is the firing order on the engine, 1 being the cylinder nearest the timing belt

as for the distributor 1 is on the top, under that twoards the front of the car is 3, the bottom one is 4, and the one to the back of the car is 2

The 1996 civic has a 1.6L b-16 engine. The only difference between the v-tec and non v-tec engine is the dual overhead cam i believe. The 93 civic also should have a b-16 engine in it. The cylinder head should work.......
