Question about 1999 Kia Sportage

1 Answer

Wheel noise-left wheel. 4-wheel drive-2000 Kia Sportage.

There's a noise in the left wheel even in 2-wheel drive mode. (2000 Kia-Sportage). One mechanic said to me that the left wheel hub seems to be stuck (not engaged-when 4-wheel drive is turned on) and that the problem is in the 4-wheel drive hub with a spring that engages the wheel. What could be the problem and how is it to be resolved?

I don't know how to get my 2001 kia sportage into four wheel drive

On small shift behinde gear lever there is 3 settings. H4 = 4 wheel drive high range, L4 = 4 wheel drive low range, h2 = 2 wheel drive high range. as soon as jou engage to 4 wheel drive a green light on the dash board will appear to indicate that the car is in 4 wheel drive. if not check fuse - check air pipes at front wheels. Enjoy Willem Sa

Sounds like the rf hub and bearing assy has had an internal failure. Take it to a local shop and they should be able to confirm.

2000 kia sportage 4 wheel drive not going into 4 wheel drive.

If you haven't been told, if you have vaccum hubs ,the seals start to leak and dirt gets inside and wears more on them. Eventually they leak so bad they won't engage. The best solution I found was to replace the hubs with manual lockouts for about 150 bucks. it works every time now.

How to check front bearings on 2000 kia sportage

hi there, there are two ways to check your bearings, 1, is to jack up the vehicle so the wheel is free of the ground and to check for any play or roughness in the bearing by spinning the wheel, if the bearing is worn then you will hear a droning noise, 2 is to drive along a quiet road, at a speed where you can hear the noise, gently turn the steering from left to right so the vehile load is being shifted from one side to the other, if you have a wheel bearing fault the noise's pitch will alter, hope this helps
