Fuel pumps aren't too bad, too me, they are all the same, I always buy the cheap stuff, Your car has one available at Advance Auto Parts for $85, or you can buy the expensive Bosch brand for $304, either way, they both come with a warranty. Hope that helps.

How much does it cost to replace a gas pump

Fuel pumps are mounted inside the fuel tank. If you have a tow hitch, it will have to be removed. I believe the rear bumper has to come off as well. Lots of little things need to be done. A good shop should be able to do in in a few hours.

Engine doesn't start. i heard a humming sound for a few second coming from fuel pump when ignition is on, replaced fuel filter but still not getting fuel delivery on the fuel rail. ASD and fuel pump...

The way you wrote your question, it sounds like you have already figured out that it is most likely the fuel pump. I would recommend you do a pressure test on the fuel pump to make sure.

NOTE: Some auto parts store will loan you the pressure gauges for free but you will have to either do it in their parking lot or leave a deposit to cover the cost of a new gauge.

Fuel pump is bad. How much to replace?

It depends where you get the pump and where you take it to have it done if you're not doing it yourself. The pump could cost anywhere from $150 - $550. If you take it into a shop to have it done, they could charge you 4 - 8 hours of labor so depending on their labor rate, labor alone could cost you $240 - $800. The gas tank has to be removed in order to replace the pump, that's why the labor would be so high. These cars have a fuel pump fuse and relay so I would definitely spend a little time to check those first before you spend a lot of money replacing the fuel pump itself.

Good Luck!

My car runs good for awile then it starts loosing power like it is starving for gas i checked the fuel pressure will it was running and it was coming out very slow should it have more pressure then that...

You have to test the pressure off your fuel pump with a fuel pressure gauge. It should have more than 60 psi of pressure, if it's a lot less than that replace your fuel pump. If the fuel pump pressure it's ok, then test the pressure with the fuel preasure gauge after the fuel pressure regulator it must have around 39 psi, if there is a lot more or a lot less, then replace the fuel pressure regulator it cost around $50. If your car works good when it's cold but it starts failing when engine hot, it's pretty certain that you need a fuel pump replace. To corroborate this just test your fuel pump pressure when the engine is cold and then when your engine is hot. It must have the same pressure.

Is $265.00 too much for a fuel pump for a 2001 Ford Expedition? And is $140.00 fair for labor cost?

Around $230 to-$250 is the normal rates of an fuel pump and the labor mentioned i feel is an nominal amount.

Local mechanic told was gonna cost me $430 to replace the fuel pump on my 92 acclaim. Even if that price includes maybe $50 for the tow to his shop.. seems like that a lot of expensive labor....

assuming electric fuel pump
1.0 hr labor to replace 80.00 to 120.00 per hour
fuel pump module approx, 240.00
1.0 hrs to diagnose 80.00 to 120.00
towing 50.00

top price 400.00 +tax

Hello my fuel pump pressure, maybe weak, if so how do i fix the problem. I have a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190D. Please, if someone can give me some advise what to do. Thank You

I just had the same problem with my Chevy S10 Pickup. I changed my fuel pump myself, and that solved the problem. Fuel pumps can range in price, depending on if the sending unit is sold with the pump or without. If it is something you can do yourself, I would recommend it. You will save yourself a lot of money, otherwise look at spending about three to four hundred dollars for a mechanic to do it. It is pretty simple, and you SHOULD buy a mechanics book for your car, which you would find at any auto parts store. You may need to buy a few tools, but that cost is pretty low.
Three years ago, I had a mechanic replace my pump. It cost me 450 dollars, not including the cost of the pump.
I just replaced it again a couple of weeks ago. The pump was $240, tools were $40. So, that is why I would recommend you do it yourself if you need to save money.

04 dodge diesel cuts out while driving at speed

Hi. I had the same problem on my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins. I went to the dealer and they did a bunch of diagnostics and they replaced my fuel pump. At the same time they put in a retrofit kit that moved the fuel pump to the inside of the gas tank. I have not had the problem since. The cost was about $1,200, but my 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty covered it and I had to pay the $100 deductible.

Fuel System Problems.

can you hear the pump when you turn the key on? some of the "off" brand fuel pumps are good cost but lack quality....if you can then i would check / replace the filter. especially after dropping the tank. lots of dirt can be drawn into a new pump..not good. what did the "sock" on the bottom of the old pump look like? dirty? also check fuel pump fuse!
