Isn't the voltage regulator part of the alternator ? did you replace the right part ? are your connections tight ! good ground ? some new alternators go bad , check all your connections first, check your grounds, wonder if your gage is bad ? use a amp meter to check voltage , 12 to 14 volts is normal.

Open the hood, and in the top right and left corners of the primary headlamps you'll see two pins (L shaped) swing them out (towards the front of the truck) and lift out. This allows you to remove the upper headlamp assembly. You can then remove the lower assembly by pushing outwards on the plastic clip that is hooked into a metal clip. Once it's out you just turn the bulb to remove it.
It's much easier if you unhook the leads to the upper assembly's bulbes so you can set the whole thing aside.

Sounds like you need a starter, or you have a loose wire somewhere under the hood.

This sounds like a telltale choke issue. You running carburated right?
If it is what i think it is you have a choke thermostat on the carb. If so check the votage on the wire and if you have power then the choke thermostat has to be replaced. you can do a manual set of the choke behind the carb just to see if this is the problem.
