Transmission jerking around 35-40 mph

I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra with 34,500 the car started to **** back and forth around 35 40 mph. took it to the dealer they said they could feel a slight converter shutter said the transmission fluid was very dirty. They said I should have had it changed at 30,000 miles. I was a little shocked thought it should last longer then 30,000 but had it changed cost $170. they said drive it for 100 miles to get the new fluid in the plates. I then checked the owners manual after getting back it said that it did not need replace till 60,000 miles and to just check it at 30,000 and if it need replaced then to do it. The car has been serviced at every 3000 miles. They car is still doing the jerking after driving over 150 miles is any one. Made another appointment to have it looked at lets see what they can get me for this time. Is there any none troubles with the trans in these car. Or is there something the dealer is missing…

SOURCE: CAR JERKING AROUND 30,000 MILES

We have a 2007 Elantra company car with the same trouble jerking around 35-40. Went to dealer many times they said change Trans fluid it had 33k miles. Cost us $170. Did not fix it. Then they said it would need a new trans would not give back money for trans service. They put new trans in under warranty picked up car was still the same went back more times they said #3 spark plug was bad this I was told twice. I had had it with the dealer ship and demanded they find the trouble here it was a bad spark plug wire on #3 they replaced all the wires and #3 spark plug for the 3rd time and problem went a way. This dealer ship change a transmission for spark plug wirre i hope your dealership is better then this one

I have an 04 hyundai elantra and it jerks when i drive, i took it to the shop and no codes came up and no check engine light came up. My car needs a fuel pump could this be why the car jerking? And when...

I would check the transmission fluid. It may need changed and the filter changed. Perhaps you are not getting a good spark from your spark plugs or coils. Has it been awhile since you had a tune up?

WHEN IM DRIVING, IT POPS OR JERKS ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THEN WONT SHIFT GEARS. WHEN IM ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT DOES THIS, IT WILL BARELY GO 55 MPH.

Your transmission fluid is dangerously low (tranny is dry). The pops & jerks are the transmission
internal components trying not to seize onto each other due to lack of lubrication and/or overheating.
Low transmission fluid leads not only to loss of lubrication but lots of overheating (of the tranny).
The loss of Elantra performance (speed tops out at 55), is caused by power loss due to friction inside the transmission. All your power is lost overheating the transmission (toward destruction), instead of
being transmitted through the transmission to the wheels.

The 2004 Elantra takes Hyundai SP-III Automatic Transmission Fluid, with 8.4 quarts used in a
total refill - but just 5 quarts at a fluid change. For How-to transmission fluid change instructions:

Your transmission is slipping which can cause a huge amount of damage both to the car and your wallet. Take it in for service as soon as you can.

CAR JERKING AROUND 30,000 MILES

check the fluid for the color and smell.if the color is dark or the smell is burnt, your tranny have internal problems, also early hyundais had a lot of problems with the transmisions, internal failure as well as the valve bodies goin bad,if the service was done and you still have the problem its likely that your transmision needs a better diagnostic,if you are under warranty then there should be no problem.

Hyundai Elantr 2002, automatic. When the car running, I sense changing gear (at ~30 mph) and there is jerking. Then the engine light comes on. Then the speed pickup is bad. suggest what could be wrong....

I had something similar happen. My check engine light never came on but i did experience the jerking between the 30 and 40 mph mark. Have your fuel injector checked to see if its dirty. Also have your fuel lines checked to see if you have water in it and have them check the transmission fluid. its possible you can be low. When I had the problem i did all 3 of these things. My car does not **** anymore.

2000 Hyundai Elantra Transmission problem

I don't know if I can help but as an owner of a Hyundai Elantra 2000 GLS with 205,000 miles and the original clutch and transmission I'll try and help!

I always start with the lowest cost solution first and avoid mechanics as much as possible!

Have you checked the trans fluid?
It should be changed every 30,000 miles!
Sometimes a Lucas Trans Fluid will cure - fix slippage!

Have you checked for a clutch adjustmet!
An adjustment can cure - fix slippage!

Are you a clutch rider with your foot always on the clutch?
If so you may have worn out the clutch!

How many miles to you have on your Hyundai Elantra 2000?

sounds like the transmission fluid level is incorrect. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual. You'll need a funnel, rags, and Hyundai transmission fluid ($15 a litre in Canada)
