Question about 1992 Honda Accord

1 Answer

When you put the car into reverse you have to push the shifter partially back into park then back into reverse for then transmission to engage. When you go to d4 you have to go partially into d3 then into d4 for the transmission to engage.

Gear shifter won't shift into reverse or park

When you "muscled it into neural" you broke the shifter. Most likely it will take a replacement shifter to repair.

Adjust shift indicator 1999 ford ranger

it does sound like a loose transmission shifter

the shift linkage is directly below your auto transmission shifter. simply place in park, undo the bolt joining the shifter to the transmission, push on the transmission shifter at the other end so it clicks fully into park and tighten the bolt up hard. then check for normal operation.

just remember chances are when your pushing down on the shifter to drive that the direction your pushing at the transmission is reversed so park should be towards the rear of the vehicle and drive is towards the front. but may not always be the case. best bet is to get a mate to move the shifter up and down untill you see exactly what is going on, then adjust your linkage to suit.

Gear shifter is in Park, but dash reads it's in Reverse. Car won't turn over because it is in Reverse now.

You have to locate where the park ignition switch is located. Some are on the transmission and some are in the column under the dash. It probably got moved.

Vw passat will not go in to reverse gear parked the car up to go shopping came back would not reverse

On many cars with a console mounted shifter the brakes must be pushed down to get the car out of park; If you can put it in reverse, and it still will not go, you may need to have the linkage adjusted or transmission checked.

Have a 97 Old Aurora that was only going in reverse. Turned off car to see if it would reset but now will not crank. I have it in park but can push the car. What type of transmission fluid does it take...

I believe the root of the problem is in the shifter linkage / cable. The shifter is in reverse regardless of where you put it. . Moving the shifter is not moving the linkage at the transmission end. That would explain the no crank issue as well. You can push a car in any gear , but not if it really is in park.

How to shift into 4 LO in 2004 jeep grand cherokee

The correct procedure should be described in detail in your owner/operation manual.
For a 2004, 90 % sure that if it's a quadra trac you have to immobilize the vehicule, put your transmission shifter to neutral keeping foot on the brake obviously, engage the low on transfer case pulling the transfer case shifter, engage the transmission to drive
If it's a select track, normally you have to keep the vehicule moving very slowly (2 mph), move the transmission shifter to neutral, push the transfer case shifter to the right and pull it firmly. Once transfer case engaged, put back the transmission shifter to drive.
It could take few seconds to engage and disengage depending on the temperature and road condition. Do not try it on dry surface (preferable on mud, snow and wet surface). Drive at low speed because you will feel that it's very low geared.
By the way, follow the reverse process to reestablish normal mode

Hope it will help

Honda 2000 odyssey the shifter is in park, but

The gear range switch on the back of the transmission is either bad or out of adjustment. To adjust, try removing the switch and put it in the neutral position (it should click into this spot). Then put the transmission in neutral and reinstall the switch being careful not to let the switch turn at all during re-install. There is a few degrees of adjustment available by turning the switch in either direction as well if it is still off. The car should only start in park or neutral and the reverse lights should only come on when in reverse.

Nissan maxima wont shift into park

There is a little button in front of the shifter. I pushed on this while moving the shifter back and forth. It immediately went down and I was able to put he car in park and then pulled out the key.

Transmission won't come out of reverse

your Transmission is controlled by a cable on the mustang. it could have Came off of the transmission. it just snaps on to a lever on the transmission. or the cable broke. other wise it came unhooked from your shifter.
