thanks for the replies so far im about to take off the belt to see if it starts now, right before this happened i had it started fine for a minute and then i let the clutch slip and it stalled and thats when the problem started. how can i tell if there is a coolant leak into the cylinders?

Pull the spark plugs in case you have a coolant leak into one of the cylinders and has hydo-lock the motor. If this is the case and you continue to try and crank it,it will bend a rod in the motor.

My power steering it makes heaps of sqeaky noises when i turn the will i have topped up the power steering but still squieaks

You did not post the vehicle information but in most cases it is the belt that runs the pump. They need to be replaced when they start squealing like that .

When I start car it makes a loud sqeaking noise what is that?

either the belt is worn and causing this or one of the pulleys on the motor may be causing this if the belt is good remove the belt and test the diff pulleys by spining them with your hand wiggling each one and see if they are loose. hope this helps

My car wont start, battery is good.

If the car was sqeaking it could have been your alternator belt, The sqeaking sound is the belt slipping, it is loose because there is not enough belt tension on the pulley. If it was slipping your alternator was not charging properly that's why your battery is low or dead.

Have the belt tightened or replaced (depending on condition) and drive your car around for about a half hour at normal speeds to recharge the battery.

Good Luck!

I think my power steering pump has seized, the pulley does not rotate. Can i do anything to rectify the problem myself......there is a sqeaking noise when i turn the ignition on and have to turn off again...

Make sure the engine is cold

Take the belt off (if it not already off already)

Turn it in both directions.

Power steering AND/OR power steering rack can fail.

I will check for leaks on the rack first.

A bad/failing rack can dislodge metal partials.

The pump circulate these metals and jam the pump.

Please do not rule out the rack.

When you change the pump....make sure you blow out the rack and check for metal partials.

I hear a sound like the fan belt sqeaking, I know there is only one belt and that belt is still on . first it made a sound like a tire was leaking air then i heard the sqeaking under the hood

belts can still sqeak even though they are still on, check the condition of the belt, is it craked?, glazed? spray some silicon spray on it while its running and see if it goes away. the belt driven accesories can also make noise, alternator, steering pump, water pump, idler, tensioner, a/c compressor. use a long screwdriver like a stethescope and see if one belt driven acessory makes more noise than the others, just be careful of moving parts.
