Question about 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
I got this car for my daughter about 8 months ago,it rode and drove fine for 3 months, when she got it home that night ,it wouldn't start again.
I checked plugs, which seemed alright, went through connections, nothing loose/broken.1 month later it started right up and idled fine.drove it about 10 blocks and it stalled in the middle of the street, pushed it to the side, tried starting it,but it wouldn't,came back to it bout half hour later and it started right up and I drove it home, checked codes, got only default.
the car doesn't need a key to start it/turn it over.Is there a relation here?
could the ignition switch connection vibrate loose and cause stall?
What steps should I take to find problem?
When you have a bad crank sensor it will brake down after it gets to hot.but when it cools down the car will start .replace the crank sensor

Tips for a great answer:
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
