on my 96 non-turbo mitubishi eclipse is blowing the 30amp ignition fuse, could it be the distributor-coil pack?

I have the same problem on my Son's 1997 non turbo Eclipse. Problem just started today. The 30 amp ignition fuse blew while he was driving down the road and when we replaced it blows as soon as you turn the key on. Looked for any obvious wires grounded or shorted but have not found anything yet.

it is blowing when you crank the car up or while your driving. has water gotten into the fuse box under the hood.

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere.

SOURCE: 30amp motor fuse keeps blowing

remove all the other fuses and relays and plug them in one at a time to se which circuit the short is in.

SOURCE: ignition fuse kepts blowing

then there is a short circuit on that node. try to analyze also what was that 30amps fuse for? example, is it for lights, audio, aircon? You also need a simple multimeter to check if it still shorted.

If it just keeps blowing it could either be a bad ground somewhere or theres to much power getting pushed to it for some reason when u start it, blowing the fuse

97mits mirage 1.5 blows 30amp fuse as soon as ignition key hits turnover position? Suspect bad ground

Try disconnecting the wires from the starter and try it again. If it blows the fuse again, then your ignition switch it'self is probably shorted. If it doesn't blow the fuse, your starter is grounded on the inside and needs to be replaced.

Voltage regulator fuse keeps blowing on my 98 ford explorer

Well I looked at the wiring diagram and I did not see a 30amp fuse.
There is a 15amp, a 7.5 amp, and the two fuseable links between the battery and the alternator. Thats not to say a 30amp fuse for the charging system does not exist, but its not in the standard diagram.
Do you have battery power on the large alternator post when the key switch is off ? And do you have power on the lite green and red wire when the key switch is on ?

30 amp Starter/Ignition fuse keeps blowing when i turn the ignition key. The instrumentpanel lights are dim and then the fuse blows.

I am assuming you are talking about the circuit that powers the key switch. I'm showing a fuseable link to the starter relay instead of a fuse.
If it is the circuit that powers the switch, I would disconnect the switch and see if the fuse blows as each circuit is powered one at a time using a jumper wire. You can get 30amp circuit breakers that plug into the fuse slot to use while you are testing circuits.
You may need a repair book or shop manual to find out what is powered by that fuse since it is most everything on the car.

excessive current draw for starting circuit i would try an ignition switch at this stage if not a quick amp gauge check of the draw on the start circuit at the ignition switch

How to put an alternator in a 1998 mitubishi eclipse

Well generally and very basically, ya, unplug the wires from Alternator then remove the bolts that attach it, remove the drive belt, Then, reinstall the new Alternator, then put belt on.. retighten the bolts.. reattach the Wires.. ya should be good to go. Check Check Check.

NB: Take note of how "Tight" the belt drive is and try to replicate that tension when finished.
