Question about 1995 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have a 1995 Toyota Camry. I have an intermintent problem. Sometimes when I turn the key to start the car all the lights on the dashboard light but the engine does not turn over. In fact, there is no noise what so ever. I had the car to a mechanic and, of course, it starts for him everytime (he's had the car for 3 days and it hasn't done it. I went to pick it up after hours and it didn't start. The next day it started for him.) He can not diagnose the problem if it doesn't happen for him. Has this kind of thing ever happened to anyone else? If so, what was the solution? It happens very radomly. Thanks.

Take the car back to your guy, andf tell him to remove the starter, and examine the starter contacts. If they are worn and burnt, that is the cause of your problem.

I have the same problem in my 89 camry. I am under the usumtion that it may be the wiring in the ignition itself.

If it is auto, try hold the gear stick to the left slightly, and if it starts when u wriggle it about there your problem may lie, return to the mechanic and show him.

there maybe a fault with the drivers door. if it used to be able to start before without the fob. then there would be a fault with the lock. only other way is to get the pass code from toyota but they may not have it as it is a 1995. the only other way is to have the immobiliser sent off to a company that can retrieve the code from the unit and make a new fob for it. can cost a lot. but if you change anything you still need the pass code unless you get another ecu immobiliser alarm and fob from another car. then it should all work then. but make sure it is a set.

My 2006 Toyota Camry won't start. Battery seems okay since all dashboard lights come on as expected. I get a slight chirping sound when I turn the key. Is is the starter moter?

Better try getting a boost first. The starter takes far more power than all your lights and fans put together. After that you can determine what caused it to go dead.

1995 Toyota Camry randomly won't start

Likely a bad starter relay or solenoid. Random stuff is just that...random...Once had a customer that had a stalling problem for 3mos. every time it was in the shop it worked fine (I even took it home for a weekend). Finally found prob by accident while just standing in front of it talking to a tech one day...Just noticed that a wiring harness end did not look "just right" Fixed that one for free!!! PS: are the battery connections at the block and starter clean and secure? Biggest problem with random stuff is that when it's working, it passes all testing! Good luck
