Re: window wont shut
One or both of the green plastic and metal fasteners that secure the bottom of the window glass to the scissors lift has broken. Replacements can be gotten at Saabsite for $4.35 each (aftermarket) or $7.43 each (OEM) or at eeuroparts.com for $2.99 (aftermrket) or $7.11 (OEM). You have to remove the innder door panel. Total replacement time will be about 1 hour for you if it is your first time doing this.

First open your drivers door. Now while holding the switch to go up or down....wiggle the wire harness between the door and the truck. Try this while moving the door from slightly closed to fully open. Try slightly wiggling some under the dash if thats not it. There sometimes are wires under the carpet for the windows....push down on a few spots while holding your switch also. Hope this helps to locate the problem
Inspect or replace the window lock and unlock switch on the drivers door power window switch. There is a lock and unlock switch that will disable the switches to the other power window in the Jimmy. Check to make sure that switch is in the unlock position to have the other power window switch to work.
Thank you for suing fixya and good luck.
I have the same problem. Do not know cause but I remove large red 50 fuse in engine compartment fuse box, wait 15 sec and replace. Lock car and unlock. This seams to reset something and car is fine. This problems seams to appear when my battery is low.(?)
Hi. Sounds like the "anti-pinch" mechanism is coming into action on the drivers side. If the window encounters any resistance when closing it will stop. Check the window seal for damage and correct fitment, make sure there is nothing obstructing the glass. If you are OK with the seal and channels at either side and the window is going up an down "square", try some lubricant in the channels either side with the window in the down position and operate a few times.
Passenger side. The motor for the window must have been disconnected from battery voltage at some time and it has lost its reference points. That is, where to start and stop. Nudge the window near to the top, but not closed, then close the window holding the switch down for at least 5 seconds. Then open the window and hold the switch down as before. You may have to do this more than once.
There should be a section in your owners manual covering this procedure.
I don't think the two problems are connected physically.
