Why is there PLENTY of oil around the spark plug wires, above the plugs, just under the cover, on a 2000 daewoo leganza 2.2?

I just noticed the same thing yesterday when I was changing spark plugs. Valve cover gasket makes sense. I didnt seem to notice anti-freeze, so I was glad it wasnt the head gasket. The oil did however make it easy to remove the plug boots!!!

The Cam Shaft position sensors job is to send a signal to the coil to tell it to fire the spark plugs, it will be located under the timing belt cover.

My 2001 Daewoo Laganza also showed this problem. It turned out that my valve cover gasket was
not seated properly and oil was accumulating around the spark plug of the #3 cylinder. Replaced gasket and engine started running fine.

Spark plug and wire change

If oil was just around the plugs you have a oil leak somewhere . If the tip of the plug that goes in the motor is covered with oil it is either worn valve seals or piston rings. If it leaking oil look at the valve covers this is on of the most likely place for oil leaks.

I just bought a 2000 model Daewoo Leganza (2.2l dohc engine) I was servicing the engine and decided to check the spark plugs, only to find I could not see them as they were immersed in engine oil. Car...

When the gasket goes bad, the engine will leak oil like crazy, which is what mine is doing at the moment.

As far as I know, it's really easy to replace the head gasket, which is something I'm in dire need of myself. You just unscrew the bolts, take the top part off, replace the gasket, and screw it back together.

I have a service manual, if you'd like to e-mail me..I can forward it to you.
