I have an '89 Civic LS. I had the fuel pump replaced about 6 months ago and the car ran very well. One morning the car would turn over but not start. After replacing the main fuel relay the car started and ran for about a week then it quit again. Yesterday I put a new one in and it started I drove it home. and thismorning it wouldn't start again. What would cause the relays to fail like that?

It could be several things. Try to spray some starting fluid into the intake by the air filter and see if it starts, if it does start it is an issue with the fuel delivery. If it does not start it would have something to do with either no spark or bad plugs or an electrical issue. Without more info I am unable to go much further than that.

I change the angine on my 07 honda civic and it wont crank

this could be a myriad of issues. go back through the wiring harness an check connections. also check timing belt to make sure valve timing is correct. there is a cam AND crank sensor on that car and if the timing is off one tooth itll cause ignition issues.

My honda civic has problems starting up somthimes it will start fine one min and ill turn it off run in a store come back out and it will start having problems, ill turn the key it sounds like it wants to...

The first thing that needs to happen is to determine which SYSTEM is causing the problem. Is it the FUEL system or is it the IGNITION system? The symptoms you are describing could be caused by either.

The easiest way to check the ignition system is to pull one of the spark plug wires and check for spark when the engine is refusing to start. If there is no spark, you will probably have to replace your distributor (Very common problem with Hondas).

If you can cycle the key ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON, CRANK - and it starts right up, then you are most likely losing the pressure off of you injector rails during a hot soak (shutting the engine off when it is hot). This can be caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator or a faulty fuel pump check valve. This can be verified by performing fuel pressure tests.

sounds like the distributor. over time the distributor could get debris and condensation inside it and cause it to act up here and there.

1989 honda civic-starts on some occasions and won't start on others. What are some possible solutions?

If you are referring to no crank when you turn the key then I would say the starter is going bad.If it cranks and wont turn over(run) I would say check the coil.

Car wont start

Basic things,

Is the cranking speed good? Slow?

Is the fuel pump working? If yes..
Is the fuel filter clogged?

Are the drive teeth on the starter itself ok?

Do you have good compression in all cylinders (if it is low then assume a slipped timing belt.)
