ABS, TRC OFF, VSC and Hand Brake lights on

Hi, In the meter dash, there are four lights appear most of the time I drive. ABS, VSC, TRC OFF and parking(Hand brake) lights. But there is no consistency. I start the engine, everything is normal. I drive about 3-5 km, lights on. if I off the engine and restart, things go back normal. Sometimes when I restart the engine, lights are on. And sometimes only VSC and TRC lights are on, but after 2-3 minutes ABS and Handbrake lights on again. Sometimes, ABS, TRC OFF and VSC lights on, but hand brake light is off. In the case where all the four lights on, they never off until I stop the engine. But if three of the lights are on (ABS, TRC OFF and VSC) there is a probability to get all lights off.. but after a while they are one again... I brought my car to Toyota Service Center, they said that my ABS Actuator was malfunctioning. So they asked me to replace that with the cost $3,200. That is ridiculous. But there is one thing I don't really understand. They said because the ABS actuator is not functioning, Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control lights are on. Okay, that sounds correct because all those functions use ABS. But, Sometimes, I see VSC and TRC OFF lights on while the ABS light is OFF. So, while ABS is functioning, why VSC and TRC OFF not functioning. I never seen only ABS light is on. I found used ABS actuator for about $350 but I am not sure if that is the real problem. I really think there should be cheaper way to fix that. My tires are old, almost no threads I can say. I read about ABS speed sensors, that could be the reason? I really need help guys. Thanks a lot..

Okay, my drive shaft is not in very good condition, because it sounds "crack-crick" while turning my steering.. but not while driving.. My right rear bearing was not good, I replaced it.. but the problem was there before and after the replacement.. all the sensors? what are "all the sensors"? I know speed sensors in 4 tires.. anything else? Thank you..

SOURCE: abs light/traction control light

You can check out what the trouble code is by pushing and holding the information button and the up arrow (right side of instrument cluster above the radio) until all the instrument clusters light. Press the information button (last) to enter test mode. I've had an error C1234, meaning Left rear wheel sensor fault. I found the problem to be a corroded connector under the chasis just under the rear left door about 2 feet in. I had to by-pass (replace 1 wire due to corrosion at the connector.

SOURCE: '98 Windstar ABS and traction control lights after getting brakes done

Prior to the brakes being replaced you more than likely had metal to metal contact which can throw metal shavings on the ABS wheel sensors. This metal shavings stick to the road grime on the wheel sensors showing the ABS computer a false reading making the ABS light come on. On Ford Windstars, the ABS light and the traction control light are on the same circuit. A simple (and cheap) fix is to pull the ABS wheel sensors and clean them with brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner. Make sure you dry them well and reinstall. On the Windstar there is one bold holding the sensors to the back of the wheels. I recommend you spray some WD40 on the bold and wait about 10 minutes before removing.
If this doesn't fix the ABS light and brakes, you can have the ABS system diagnosed at a shop for about an hour labor. (Usally about $100)
I have fixed many of these type of problems just by cleaning the ABS wheel sensors. Good luck.

SOURCE: 2004 A4 1.8T Brake Lights Remain On After Car Is Parked

Sounds like your brake light switch is on its way out. Its a simple fix and a cheap part. It will need to be done immediately as not only can the lights staying on drain your battery but it can also cause lack of power and not put the brake lights on when braking. The switch is operated by the pedal itself and requires the drivers underdash trim to be removed. With this off the switch can be accessed and replaced. If you can get a vehicle technician to fit it, do so, as they are quite fragile and new switches can become useless if fitted incorrectly. Good luck

SOURCE: 2001 olds ABS and traction control sensor issue

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.

Highlander 2005- VSC, ABS, park brake, tire pressure lights ON

I just bought a 2005 Highlander and the tire pressure light was on while I was test driving it. I asked the salesman to have the tire pressure checked and then it was fine....Until about 4 weeks after I purchased the vehicle, then the light came on again. This time I took it to a tire store and was told that it was simply the air pressure. When I asked why it would have gone on again so soon after I had the air pressure checked he told me that the change in air pressure from hot (over 100 degree weather) to cool (55 degree weather) might have done it. I got back into the car and the light was still on. I read the owner's manual and was able to reset the button (it's located under the left side of the steering wheel under the dash board and is clearly marked). The light promptly went out and I haven't seen it again for awhile. I hope that helps answer at least part of your problem.
