My car audio system has started to crackle out of all of the speakers with no pattern to when it happens. it doesnt matter weather the cd player is selected or the radio the crackle is still there. even when the head unit is turned off the crackle noise is still there. the only way to stop is is to turn the ignition off or take the fuses out of the head unit or the fuse to the amp. the amp is bmw fitted. the audio equipment is Digital Power SoundModul and is a rerofit kit for the bmw mini

Try leaving your cell phone at home and driving around. Cell phones and other devices many times will try using speaker wires as an extension of their antennae which is RF interference and therefore the sound of this crackling can go through your speaker system. This can happen at home or in a car.
