sorry guessing you got td5 engine? sounds like you need to prime fuel lines, pump throttle 5x and crank engine over, puts pump into prime mode and will force air out the system faster. other than that, filters or pressure regulator

Hard wires the pump and see if the car runs ok, if so there is a problem in the power wire, possibly a dud computer or wire along the way. if this is the case an auto elec would be the best thing for it...

97 Land Rover Discovery was running great. Ran out of gas put some in, at least 3 gallons, but now it won't start. Anyone have any idea why?

you do have to reprime te system which can take several minutes of trying to start. be careful not to burn up your starter. Never crank more than 10 seconds at a time, let starter cool after 2 minutes.

when you ran out you could have sucked all the debris in to your fuel pump and damaged it. have someone turn on the key while you listen under your gas tank for a humming sound. It will only last 1 or 2 seconds. that is the pump, if you hear nothing then your pump is bad and will need replaced. Also, check your filter what may have passed through te pump will not get passed the filter and it could now be clogged up. To locate the filter, follow the line from the tank to the engine and it will be in line before you get to the engine.

The auxilary gear is locked in high position.

Make sure you are on level ground. All 4 wheels must be =. Play around with the diff-lock switch.

Engine will not turnover

You may have damaged fuel pump when you ran out of gas. Crank engine while checking for fuel pressure.
