My 1993 Saturn SL2 refuses to shift past 3rd gear, even when RPM is at 3000. Transmission level indicates normal. Reverse is fine. Will almost die when slowing down at a speed greater than 25 mph.
my 93 satrurn will not shift to overdrive, the vss sensor is only receiving .02 volts at the plug and at the pcm. Also the iac is not fulcuating volts its at a constant 10.93.my 93 satrurn will not shift to overdrive, the vss sensor is only receiving .02 volts at the plug and at the pcm. Also the iac is not fulcuating volts its at a constant 10.93.

1st check your fluid level, if its good I would suggest taking it in to your mechanic and have them service the transmission which involves dropping the tranny pan and replacing the filter and reinstall pan with new gasket and top fluid levels. A step further would be also have a tranny flush which will cost more due to labor and all the fluid neccesary to flush the system.
I guess my first question would be - are you saying it is slipping in 3rd gear ? If you push the gas pedal to the floor it should downshift into a lower gear. If it is slipping, or not upshifting into 3rd gear, I'm afraid chances are the transmission is toast. You can take it to a couple of shops for estimates but they will probably want to pull the pan and take a look inside.
It's a switch that slightly changes shift points. In performance , the trans shift at a slightly higher rpm and in normal......shifts a bit lower rpm and also better fuel economy.
Issue with Relay Command..Due To low Oil Level ...Please check Oil Level on transmission May have To Flush Transmission Oil Change Filter and Re-ajust Relay Bank .... If you want to preserve your Transmission longer... Due To Over Sleping Band inside your Transmission Good Luck...
Your valve body and possibly input shaft nut need to be replaced. The valve body's booster valve is worn down and won't create pressure. Before it went completely out it slammed on the input shaft nut and loosened it.
You need to replace the valve body and retorque the input shaft nut. The transmission is not junk. The above needs to be replaced and change the filter and fluid and do it every 20K miles.
I have a 97 SL2 and it has the typical slam into reverse, but also after a couple minutes of driving it downshifts... It stays there for like 3-5 minutes then runs fine afterwards... What is the problem?
There might be a torque converter lock up sensor or solenoid. When it quits working you have a problem like your having. Some times the side pan can be removed and solenoid can be replaced. I have never replaced one in a saturn, but I have in a chevy cavalier. I'm not sure but I think that is a GM made transmission.
That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.
The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.
In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.
